DEVELOPING VINEYARDS ASSOCIATED WITH TOURISM

Thai An grape village is not only an attractive tourist destination but also an effective model of tourism development associated with agriculture. Local people have taken advantage of the grapevine to develop eco-tourism, creating a stable source of income and improving their lives.

To meet the increasing demand of tourists, gardeners have invested in growing grapes according to VietGAP standards, applying water-saving irrigation technology, growing grapes in greenhouses... Thanks to that, the quality of grapes is increasingly improved, the yield is stable and meets food safety standards.

Ms. Thanh Thuy, owner of Thanh Thuy vineyard (Thai An grape village) said that the grape village is in the tourist season, attracting a large number of visitors to visit in the spring. On peak days (weekends), Thanh Thuy vineyard welcomes dozens of groups of tourists to experience, pick and enjoy grapes in the garden. “Visitors from all over come here and they are very excited to pick fresh bunches of grapes, enjoy them and bring them home as gifts. The price of grapes in the garden is only about 40,000 - 50,000 VND/kg. The owners of the vineyards here are very excited because they have a high income every day,” Ms. Thanh Thuy said.

Vinh Hai commune currently has about 200 hectares of grapes. To keep the vineyards green and full of fruit, gardeners apply VietGAP farming methods, apply water-saving irrigation technology, and grow grapes in greenhouses, helping the plants grow healthily and yield high yields. In favorable weather conditions, each year, gardeners can harvest 3 crops with an estimated yield of 2 - 3 tons of grapes per sao in the main crop. The main harvest starts from April - May of the solar calendar, the harvest in August - September and the last crop of the year is sold during and after Tet.

The vineyards in Thai An grape village are usually open from 7am to 6pm, welcoming visitors every day of the week. Visitors can freely visit the vineyards and take pictures for free.

With the largest grape growing area in the country (over 1,000 hectares) and an annual supply of 26,000 - 28,000 tons of fresh grapes to the market, Ninh Thuan province deserves to be called the "grape kingdom" of Vietnam. In recent years, the province has focused on supporting and encouraging people to grow and propagate new grape varieties with high yield and quality, while promoting grape products and other outstanding tourism products to attract tourists.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ninh Thuan province said: Thai An grape village is one of the bright spots in the development of agricultural tourism in Ninh Thuan. This place not only brings visitors unique travel experiences but also contributes to promoting the image of Ninh Thuan tourism to domestic and international friends.

In 2025, Ninh Thuan province's tourism industry aims to welcome 3.6 million visitors (domestic visitors: 3.45 million, international visitors: 150,000). Tourism industry revenue strives to reach 4,000 billion VND.
