On the afternoon of April 29, President Luong Cuong received Comrade Salvador Valdes Mesa, Politburo member and Vice President of the Republic of Cuba, who is visiting Vietnam and attending the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

President Luong Cuong welcomed Comrade Salvador Valdes Mesa to visit Vietnam again; highly appreciated the presence of the high-ranking delegation of the Cuban Party and State at the important commemorative event of the Vietnamese nation, demonstrating the solidarity and consistent support between the Parties, States and people of the two countries; emphasized that Vietnam always treasures and remembers the solidarity and wholehearted support, both spiritual and material, that Cuba has given Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation and reunification, and in the present cause of national protection and construction.

The President affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always pay attention to and closely monitor the situation in Cuba; are proud that Cuba continues to maintain socio-political stability and international prestige; share the challenges and difficulties that Cuba is facing; and believe that the Party, State and people of Cuba will continue to achieve more positive results in the process of "updating the socio-economic model."

President Luong Cuong assessed that the bilateral relationship has continued to be consolidated and developed comprehensively over the past time through bilateral cooperation mechanisms, high-level contacts and many activities towards the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025).

In particular, the visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to Cuba (September 2024) created an important milestone for the relationship between the two countries, not only strengthening political trust but also opening up a new direction in bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation.

For his part, Comrade Salvador Valdes Mesa expressed his pride in representing the leaders of the Cuban Party and State to attend the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification of the Vietnamese people; emphasizing that the great victory of April 30, 1975 was not only the victory of the Vietnamese people but also the victory of all peace-loving people in the world, including the Cuban people; expressing his belief that the parade and march to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification will be successfully organized by Vietnam, becoming a great festival of the entire nation, receiving joy and congratulations from friends around the world .

The Vice President of Cuba respectfully conveyed the warm greetings of First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, President Miguel Diaz Canel, and General Raul Castro to President Luong Cuong and key leaders of Vietnam; expressed admiration for Vietnam's great achievements in all aspects of Renovation over the past 50 years; and believed that Vietnam will continue to achieve more positive results in the cause of national construction and development.

The Cuban Vice President highly appreciated the solidarity and friendship between the two peoples; emphasized that the Party, State and people of Cuba are grateful for Vietnam's steadfast and consistent stance in supporting the just struggle of the Cuban people; and highly appreciated the sincere, righteous and timely support and assistance that Vietnam has given to Cuba over the past time, especially in areas that Cuba gives high priority to such as rice production and renewable energy.

Cuban leaders believe that with the close comradely and brotherly affection of Vietnam, and with the efforts and determination from both sides, the Cuban people will soon overcome the current difficulties and challenges.

During the meeting, the leaders of the two Parties and countries informed each other about the situation in Vietnam and Cuba; pledged to continue to closely coordinate and support each other to enhance prestige and international position; emphasized the need to enhance political trust and promote and educate the people of the two countries about the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba in the context of the two countries celebrating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025); determined to continue to accompany and implement more policies to facilitate bilateral trade and investment cooperation, and successfully implement high-level agreements reached after the visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam.

On this occasion, President Luong Cuong asked the Vice President of Cuba to help convey his greetings and best wishes to First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, President Miguel Diaz Canel, revolutionary leader General Raul Castro Ruz and other senior leaders of the Cuban Party and State./.
