House and Bunker D67 are important revolutionary relics in the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Site. The relics are associated with the activities of the Politburo, the Central Military Commission, the Minister of National Defense, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.
Here, from September 1968 to April 30, 1975, the supreme command: the Politburo of the Vietnam Workers' Party (since 1976, the Communist Party of Vietnam), the Central Military Commission and the General Command of the People's Army focused their intelligence, proposed correct and creative strategic policies, and led our people to the final victory of the resistance war against the US to save the country.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quang - Director of the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center said that the historical decisions made from House and Tunnel D67 led the resistance to victory, creating a historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign.
“The exhibition "The Road to Reunification" is an opportunity for us to review the glorious pages of history and pay tribute to generations of heroes. At the same time, it is also an endless source of inspiration, fostering love for the Fatherland and national pride, giving strength to today's generation to firmly build and protect the country,” Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quang shared.
The exhibition "The Road to Reunification" displays 200 documents and photos divided into three themes. The theme "Strategic Decisions of the General Headquarters" introduces the revolutionary situation of our country since the Paris Agreement was signed in 1973.
The second theme "One day equals 20 years" includes documents and photos showing that in implementing the policy of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission, our army and people entered the General Offensive and Uprising in the spring of 1975 with the pace of "One day equals 20 years". Our fight developed at a "lightning" speed with consecutive victories from the battlefields: Route 14 - Phuoc Long, Tay Nguyen, Tri Thien Hue, Da Nang.
The third theme "Advancing to Saigon", seizing the opportunity, the Politburo directed the entire army and people to enter the final strategic decisive battle, with the spirit of "speed, boldness, surprise, sure victory", launching a general attack, advancing to liberate Saigon.
At 11:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, President of the Saigon government Duong Van Minh was forced to declare unconditional surrender. The Ho Chi Minh campaign was a complete victory, the country was unified, and the country was reunited.
On this occasion, the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center also implemented a plan to comprehensively renovate the House and Tunnel D67 relic, researched and restored the original color of the relic; initially implemented the project "Application of information technology to interpret the revolutionary relic House and Tunnel D67".
