BHG - On the afternoon of April 29, a delegation of experts from the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network led by Mr. Guy Martin, Secretary General of the Executive Board of the Global Geoparks Network, had a working session with the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Committee on preparations for the re-evaluation of the Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark (Park). Working with the delegation were Mr. Vuong Ngoc Ha, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches.

At the meeting, the UNESCO expert delegation informed about the results of the survey in the Park area. The delegation highly appreciated the province's participation in implementing UNESCO's recommendations in the third re-evaluation in 2022, the activities to maintain and develop the Park of the province as well as the districts in the Stone Plateau; the participation of the community in preserving and promoting the value of the Park area; the Park Management Board actively operates, maintains good management, and can meet UNESCO's recommendations in the coming period. Through the survey, the expert delegation proposed to adjust the number of locations on the 4 tourist routes in the Park area from 59 to 48 locations; the new allocation will ensure a perfect balance with 12 locations/route, thereby helping visitors have more time to experience each location and reduce the workload for the Park management team. The delegation proposed that the province should take early action to implement the recommendations in preparation for the 4th Park re-evaluation to take place in 2026...

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vuong Ngoc Ha thanked the expert delegation for their regular interest in Ha Giang through working trips, direct surveys in the province and following information in the press or social networking platforms. At the same time, he said that the delegation's recommendations are very meaningful to the province in preserving, maintaining and promoting the value of the Park; the province will carefully discuss the delegation's recommendations and regularly exchange with experts on these contents. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the delegation's proposals and recommendations are very important and need to be implemented immediately to suit practical conditions, especially the implementation of the Central Government's policy on implementing 2-level administrative units.
Comrade Vuong Ngoc Ha requested the departments, branches and the Park Management Board, based on their functions and tasks, to absorb the opinions of the expert team to advise the province to develop an implementation plan in the coming time; review the functions and tasks in the operating regulations of the members of the Park Management Board to adjust and supplement them to suit the practical situation and best prepare the conditions for the re-evaluation of the Park next year. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the expert team to continue to discuss in writing the tasks that need coordination in the coming time to prepare for the re-evaluation with the highest goal of successfully protecting the Park in the 4th re-evaluation; at the same time, maintain and further promote the values of the Park...
