From 2016 to present, the units have planted and nurtured more than 506,000 rare trees of various types such as giổi na, giổi chanh, nghien, and lát hoa; deployed the construction of 3 nurseries with a total area of nearly 1,000 m² to nurture seedlings; established and maintained the activities of patrol and plant protection groups; supported people in the project area to build 49 firewood-saving stoves; and organized many training sessions and tours to raise awareness for people in the project area.
Through the implementation of solutions, the Community-Based Conservation Project for Endangered Plant Species has achieved many positive results. Notably, the project has received attention and active support from local authorities and people in the project area; community awareness of forest protection, development and conservation of rare plant species has been raised; the number of forest tree cutting cases has been controlled; the number of rare plant species has gradually increased, growing and developing well.
In the coming time, FFI in Vietnam will continue to coordinate with the Provincial Forest Protection Department and localities in the project area to propagate and raise awareness of forest protection and biodiversity for the people; maintain patrol programs, forest protection, habitat restoration, and prioritize zoning for wild plants; at the same time, promote activities to create sustainable livelihoods for people to gradually reduce dependence on forests, contributing to the conservation of endangered plant species.
