"Turban Dance" with visuals and music will bring emotions to the audience when participating in the festival "Colors of Uncle Ho's City"

In the heroic atmosphere of the historic April days, on the night of April 29, the program “Khan Ran Dance” – the opening activity for a series of cultural and sports events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification officially had a rehearsal on Nguyen Hue walking street, Ho Chi Minh City. With more than 1,000 actors, models, beauty queens, artists and a large number of students, university students and city residents performing on outdoor stages, the program lit up an artistic space imbued with the essence of the South, full of national pride.

Full of emotions with "Turban Dance"

The checkered scarf – a beloved symbol of the Southern land – appeared simultaneously in every dance step, every clapping rhythm as a vivid tribute to the people who wrote the heroic history of the nation. Not only a traditional accessory, the checkered scarf has now become a bridge between the past and the present, carrying with it a resilient spirit, loyalty, and deep pride in the cultural identity of the South.

Director Nguyen Tan Kiet immersed himself in the festival with careful preparation for the "Turban Dance", creating a beautiful mark for the festival.


Director Nguyen Tan Kiet, General Director of the event series “Colors of Uncle Ho’s City”, said: “‘Khan Ran Dance’ is not only a folk dance work, but also a cultural consciousness, where folk sounds blend with modern life. We hope this will become a community folk dance performance with a strong Vietnamese imprint, spreading not only domestically but also internationally."
Besides the bustling dance steps, the theme song “Khan Ran Dance – Homeland Shape” with new lyrics written by Quynh Xuan based on the Ly Bong Dua melody, arranged by Meritorious Artist Vo Thanh Liem, performed by singer Bich Phuong’s soulful voice, brought about overwhelming emotions, reviving the image of mothers, fathers, and children of Vietnam during the arduous and resilient resistance war.

In particular, many famous artists such as musicians Duc Tri, Tien Dat, Duong Khac Linh, Minh Vy, and choreographers Tan Loc, Doan Trinh, Tran Tuan, etc. are working together to enrich the nuances of the “Khan Ran Dance”, aiming for artistic versions that are imbued with identity and highly applicable in community life.

The program is a brilliant opening for a series of artistic activities throughout Nguyen Hue walking street and neighboring areas such as: Bach Dang Wharf Park, the City People's Committee area, along with sports performances, amateur music, flower boat parades and especially the sparkling fireworks display in the sky of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City on the night of April 30.
