According to reports, after 13 years of operation, the Vietnam Association of Women Intellectuals has grown in both quantity and quality, performing well its assigned political tasks, and contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
The Vietnam Association of Women Intellectuals has gathered and attracted nearly 6,000 members to develop members in 12 provinces/cities, 31 research institutes, universities, government agencies, state-owned and private enterprises.
The Association has had many diverse activities, promoted its strengths, actively carried out consulting, criticism, social appraisal, contributed opinions on socio-economic policies and protected the rights of Vietnamese women in general and female intellectuals in particular; promoted its strengths, enhanced the role of female intellectuals in scientific research, contributed to the socio-economic development of the country; actively participated in social security, charity, humanitarian activities; promoted international relations and cooperation...
In 2018, the Vietnam Association of Women Intellectuals coordinated with the Vietnam Women's Union to successfully host and organize the Annual Conference of the Network of Women Scientists and Engineers in the Asia-Pacific region.
This year, the Annual Conference with the theme "The role of women in science and technology and international integration for sustainable development" hosted and organized by the Vietnam Association of Intellectual Women was a great success.

Investing in building and nurturing national vitality
Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the Asia-Pacific Network of Women Scientists and Engineers Conference, which is held annually on a rotational basis among countries, affirming the interest of countries and territories in creating a common forum for outstanding female scientists.
This event is not only to connect and share knowledge and experience; but also to affirm the important role of female scientists and engineers in solving urgent problems of humanity, the region and each country, contributing to the sustainable development and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region as well as the whole world.
In particular, the 2024 Regional Network Conference hosted by the Vietnam Association of Intellectual Women in Hanoi is a vivid demonstration of the proactive international cooperation in science and technology of Vietnamese intellectual women. The event is even more meaningful as Vietnam has just organized the National Innovation Day 2024.
The Prime Minister said that throughout the thousands of years of history of building and defending the country, Vietnam has always valued intellectuals, considering "Talented people are the vital energy of the nation. When the vital energy is prosperous, the country is strong and becomes greater. When the vital energy is weak, the country is weak and becomes more degraded."
Resolution No. 45-NQ/TW, dated November 24, 2023, the 8th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee on continuing to build and promote the role of the intellectual team to meet the requirements of rapid and sustainable national development in the new period, determined: "Building a comprehensively strong intellectual team is an investment in building and nurturing national vitality".

Over the past decades, Vietnam has consistently pursued the goal of sustainable development, identifying science and technology as a top national policy. At the same time, it has always promoted the role of women, made continuous efforts to promote gender equality and develop a team of female scientists, creating the best conditions for women to develop their talents, surpass themselves, and contribute to the country, the region and the world.
According to the Prime Minister, from being one of the countries that suffered the most pain and loss after World War II, after nearly 40 years of implementing renovation, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and thanks to the joint efforts and consensus of the entire nation and international friends, including the important contributions of intellectuals in general and female intellectuals in particular, Vietnam has achieved many great and historic achievements.
Vietnam has become a middle-income developing country; GDP per capita increased 58 times compared to before the renovation, reaching 4,300 USD in 2023; ranked 34th among major economies and the group of 20 countries with the largest trade scale globally.
Vietnam is recognized by the United Nations as one of the leading countries in implementing the Millennium Goals; and is considered by the international community as a symbol of friendship and healing the wounds of war.
Vietnam's 2024 Global Innovation Index ranking has improved significantly, reaching 44th out of 133 countries (up 2 places compared to 2023, up 4 places compared to 2022). Vietnam has become a trusted destination for many of the world's leading technology corporations such as Samsung, Google, Apple, Meta, Nvidia, etc.
National goals on gender equality are always focused on implementation. In 2023, Vietnam achieved and exceeded 11/20 targets of the National Strategy on Gender Equality for 2025. Vietnam's gender equality index in 2023 ranked 72/146 countries, up 11 places compared to 2022.
The Prime Minister assessed that today, in the context of increasingly deep globalization and international integration; the fourth industrial revolution impacts all aspects of social life; the world is facing many major challenges such as natural disasters, epidemics, climate change, population aging, resource depletion and gender inequality...

These are both global and national issues, requiring not only technical solutions but also close cooperation and great efforts from countries, communities and especially from the scientific community. It is female scientists and engineers with their intelligence and acumen who are and will continue to contribute to finding creative and effective solutions to overcome these challenges.
Through the report, the Prime Minister was pleased to know that recently, the Vietnam Association of Women Intellectuals has had many rich, practical activities, innovated and diversified the forms of gathering female intellectuals.
The Association has created scientific forums for female intellectuals to express their creativity, enthusiasm and passion for scientific research; actively contributing to the development and implementation of socio-economic development policies and strategies.
Specifically, 264 scientific works, researches, and reports were published; over 130 scientific and technological products of 26 female scientists were introduced in the exhibition "Scientific and Technological Achievements of Vietnamese Female Intellectuals"; more than 200 products on the Direct and Online Trading Floor on technology, scientific and technological products...
The Association is a gathering place for individuals who are honored domestically and internationally, receiving scientific awards such as: State Prize for Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh Prize, Vifotex Prize, Kovalevskaia Prize, Loreal-UNESCO and other international awards... for female scientists.
The Prime Minister mentioned the Hero of Labor, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Tram, who created dozens of high-yield and high-quality hybrid rice varieties; the Hero of Labor, Prof. Dr. Huynh Thi Phuong Lien, who made miracles for the country's medicine such as producing the inactivated Japanese encephalitis vaccine, a successful first-generation vaccine; the drug product Trinh Nu Hoang Cung of Dr. Pharmacist Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram was exported to the United States and European countries...
The Association has effectively supported female intellectuals to start businesses, create valuable products and services; participate in environmental protection activities, community development, contributing to building a sustainable society.
The Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnam Association of Women Intellectuals has gradually demonstrated its core role in gathering solidarity and promoting the creativity of female intellectuals, contributing to the socio-economic development of Vietnam as well as to the activities of the Conference of the Network of Women Scientists and Engineers in the Asia-Pacific region.

The government creates all favorable conditions for female intellectuals.
The Head of Government said that, towards the new era of development, Vietnam always pays special attention to science, technology and innovation, considering this an objective requirement, a strategic choice and a top priority for rapid and sustainable development; contributing to solving important issues of climate change, resource depletion, population aging, improving labor productivity, etc.
With the spirit of "innovation to break through, surpass oneself - creativity to reach far, fly high in the sky of the digital era and green development of humanity" , Vietnam strives to catch up, progress together and surpass in the process of human innovation.
The Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government highly values and strongly promotes international cooperation in research, transfer and application of modern technology for national development.
The Vietnamese Government creates all favorable conditions for intellectuals, including female intellectuals, to maximize their capacity and enthusiasm, creating favorable conditions for female intellectuals and female scientists to participate in start-up and innovation activities; through continuing to improve mechanisms and policies; investing heavily in scientific and technological research, infrastructure for green transformation, digital transformation; prioritizing financial resources, focusing on training high-quality human resources, improving modern management capacity for scientific and technological research and development; encouraging creativity and application of science and technology in production and life...
On this occasion, the Prime Minister sincerely thanked and hoped that the International Network of Women Scientists and Engineers would continue to pay attention, closely coordinate, and share experiences with Vietnam; at the same time, connect and create conditions for Vietnamese female intellectuals to access, learn and have the opportunity to work, exchange and cooperate with experts, scientists, and high-tech enterprises in countries around the world; support technology transfer, human resource training, improve management capacity, build institutions, mechanisms, and policies.

The Prime Minister emphasized that women play a very important role in the development of each family, each society, each country, each ethnic group. Women are not only mothers, wives, but also workers, businesswomen, engineers, scientists, playing a central role, being the subject in building and developing a caring economy; promoting the strong development of science, technology and innovation, actively contributing to sustainable development in each country, region and the world.
“The more excited and happy we are about the important results that have been achieved, the more we hope to have more and more practical and meaningful achievements from the International Network of Women Scientists and Engineers in general, and the Vietnam Association of Intellectual Women in particular, making greater contributions to the development of the country and the construction of the Asia-Pacific region, as well as to a world of peace, justice, humanity, kindness, civilization and sustainable development,” the Prime Minister said.
Regarding the proposal of the Association of Women Intellectuals on establishing a Fund to support young female scientists, the Prime Minister assigned the President of the Vietnam Women's Union to coordinate with the Minister of Finance to study the establishment in accordance with the provisions of law.
