Awarding of the Francophone Woman of the Year

Attending the event were Ms. Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, President of AIMF; Mr. Désire Nyaruhirira, Special Advisor to the General Secretary of the International Organization of La Francophonie; Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Pham Duc Tien; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City Nguyen Van Phuong; leaders of departments, branches, and localities in the city and delegates from French-speaking cities around the world.

The city of Hue is developing many bilateral cooperation projects with French-speaking cities, focusing on heritage conservation issues. Therefore, the Conference of French-speaking Mayors is an opportunity to learn more about these cooperations and establish new partnerships.

Taking place over three days, from April 27 to 29, climate issues are the focus of this conference. Ten years after the adoption of the Paris Agreement at COP21, local governments around the world have unanimously committed to combating climate change and are working together to implement concrete solutions with proven effectiveness.

Accordingly, many contents were organized and discussed, such as: Workshop "Heritage and Sustainable Tourism", workshop and commitment of the city "Responding to the climate emergency", "Tangible heritage and development policy"... In addition, this meeting in Hue is also a time to congratulate AIMF, in 2025 will celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Association, 35 years of the Cooperation Fund and 30 years of becoming the Coordinating Body of the Francophone Community.

As an important and special international urban organization, associated with a common language, French, over the years, AIMF has initiated initiatives on urban heritage and accompanied local leaders in heritage conservation, promoting sustainable tourism and jointly solving global challenges, aiming at a sustainable development of cities and AIMF has performed its mission very well, creating a strong link between member cities and Francophone and international partner organizations.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, emphasized that Hue has always proactively participated in the Association's activities, demonstrating the desire and determination of the city government in deeply integrating into international cooperation activities, especially within the framework of the Francophone Community, of which Vietnam has long been an active and responsible member. Hue City, as well as other member cities, always hopes to continue receiving the support of AIMF and international partners, so that our cooperative relationships become truly effective and useful for each member and the whole community.
