Rich in national identity, community Tet celebrates the Year of the Snake 2025 in Belgium

The 2025 Spring At Ty Community Tet Program organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Brussels took place in a united, joyful, cozy, solemn atmosphere imbued with national identity.

Delegates and more than 500 representatives of overseas Vietnamese living, studying and working in Belgium and Luxembourg, along with all Embassy staff and their families attended the event.

On January 19, the Vietnamese Embassy in the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Vietnamese Delegation to the European Union (EU) solemnly held a community Tet celebration to celebrate the Spring of At Ty 2025.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the EU Nguyen Van Thao chaired the event, attended by the President and Executive Board of the General Association of Vietnamese in Belgium, Head of the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese Community in Luxembourg, more than 500 representatives of overseas Vietnamese living, studying and working in Belgium and Luxembourg, along with all staff and employees of the Embassy and their families.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese people for traveling to Brussels to attend the community Tet, and sent the best wishes for the new year to the Vietnamese community in Belgium and Luxembourg.

On this occasion, the Ambassador reviewed Vietnam's outstanding economic and social achievements in 2024. Although the international and regional situation has many complicated and unpredictable developments, with widespread instability in many places, our whole country has strived to achieve positive results in many fields, contributing to the cause of national construction and development.

The Ambassador affirmed that the outstanding achievements that the country has made in the past year are thanks to the leadership of the Party, the administration of the Government and the efforts of the entire nation, including an important contribution from the Vietnamese community abroad in general and the communities in Belgium and Luxembourg in particular.

In his relations with the host country, the Ambassador was pleased to inform the community about the positive developments over the past year, and also announced that King Philippe and Queen Mathilde are expected to make their first State visit to Vietnam at the end of March. This is a historic milestone, demonstrating Belgium's significant interest and respect for Vietnam, a strategic and important partner in the Asia-Pacific region with a relationship spanning over 50 years.

With Luxembourg, on the basis of the Strategic Partnership on Green Finance established in 2023, the two countries are continuing to have many effective and practical cooperation activities, aiming to support Vietnam in developing the carbon market, green securities, financial services, contributing to mobilizing necessary resources for sustainable development, towards net zero emissions by 2050.

On this occasion, Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao congratulated the positive results achieved by the Vietnamese community in Belgium in recent times, especially the establishment of the Vietnamese Business Association in Belgium and the Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage Club, thereby consolidating and developing the General Association of Vietnamese in Belgium, enhancing the preservation of Vietnamese culture and language, and connecting the community. The Ambassador also thanked the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Belgium and Luxembourg to overcome the consequences of Typhoon Yagi.

For the EU, in 2025, the two sides will celebrate 35 years of Vietnam-EU diplomatic relations, as well as 5 years of implementing the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). The Ambassador shared that Vietnam and the EU have developed comprehensively in recent times and are facing many new opportunities, including many areas where the EU has advantages that Vietnam is interested in, such as science and technology - innovation, climate change response, green development... The two sides expect to organize high-level visits in 2025 to promote these cooperation opportunities.

The Ambassador further emphasized that 2025 is an important year of special significance to the Vietnamese people; it is the year to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country and the 50th anniversary of national reunification; and at the same time, it is also an important pivotal year, preparing for the 14th National Party Congress with 100-year goals.

Therefore, the spirit and determination to develop the country and create breakthroughs to enter the era of national development are very high, and at the same time, we really need the cooperation and contribution of Vietnamese people abroad, including the Vietnamese community in Belgium and Luxembourg.

The Ambassador called on the Vietnamese community in Belgium and Luxembourg to continue promoting the spirit of solidarity, attachment, mutual love, contributing intellectual resources, economic resources and “soft” resources to the Fatherland, and at the same time continue to be an important bridge contributing to promoting cooperation and deepening the relationship between Vietnam and Belgium and Luxembourg.

In the warm and joyful atmosphere of Spring, the community and distinguished guests enjoyed a space imbued with Vietnamese culture with paintings and photos of the country's scenic spots, many traditional Vietnamese New Year dishes, and musical performances and homeland songs performed by folk musician Nguyen Minh Trang and members of the Vietnamese Women's Association in Belgium and the Vietnamese Ao Dai Heritage Club.

The 2025 Spring Tet Community Program organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Brussels took place in a united, joyful, cozy, solemn and imbued with national identity atmosphere, contributing to strengthening the close relationship between the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Belgium and Luxembourg.
