Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang presents his credentials to UNIDO Director General Gerd Müller

UNIDO Director General Gerd Müller considers Vietnam a model of successful development and wishes to share Vietnam's model and experience with developing countries.

On January 21, at the Vienna International Center, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang presented his credentials to the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Gerd Müller.

Conveying the greetings of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son to UNIDO Director General, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang expressed his gratitude to Mr. Gerd Müller and UNIDO for their effective cooperation in implementing projects providing practical support for the process of industrialization, modernization, green and sustainable development over the past 40 years in Vietnam.

Vietnam has been a member of UNIDO since 1985, and the annual technical assistance provided by the Hanoi Office is one of the highest among UNIDO's 30 offices worldwide.

The focus of cooperation with UNIDO includes energy efficiency in industry, low-carbon circular economy, development of eco-industrial parks, building food innovation centers/systems, industrial policy consultancy and quality assurance for fruit exports, transfer of clean and green technology, promotion of trade, investment and responsible business.

The Ambassador highlighted Vietnam's achievements in socio-economic development and international integration, as well as its active, proactive and responsible contributions to the United Nations, as one of the countries that soon completed the Millennium Development Goals.

In the coming time, the Ambassador suggested that UNIDO continue to strengthen policy consulting support, build and enhance capacity, connect partners to support finance and technology transfer to promote green transformation, digital transformation, circular economy, sharing economy, science and technology and innovation, contributing to creating breakthrough momentum for the era of Vietnam's rise to prosperity.

Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang expressed his hope that UNIDO would increase the recruitment of Vietnamese personnel to coordinate more closely in effectively implementing UNIDO projects for Vietnam.

General Director Gerd Müller congratulated and expressed his special impression of Vietnam's outstanding socio-economic development achievements in 40 years of Doi Moi, considering Vietnam a model of successful development and wishing to share Vietnam's model and experience with developing countries, especially in policy and legal reform, infrastructure investment and high-quality human resource development.

Mr. Gerd Müller is interested in learning about the impact of climate change on Vietnam, Vietnam's current development focuses and is committed to prioritizing resources, connecting partners and expanding practical support projects for industrial development and industrialization in agriculture, digital transformation and green transformation in Vietnam.

On this occasion, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang invited UNIDO Director General Gerd Müller to visit Vietnam in 2025 to review the results of 40 years of Vietnam-UNIDO partnership and orient cooperation for the coming time. Mr. Gerd Müller happily accepted the invitation.
