Van Vuong is the latest fashion collection of designer Dung Nguyen.

This collection is inspired by ao yem, ao tu than and Bai Tu Long Bay.

New perspective on Ao yem and Ao tu than

Designer Dung Nguyen uses environmentally friendly fabrics such as silk, taffeta, organza, etc. for the Van Vuong collection.

Regarding colors, the male designer chose bright colors. These are pure white, the pink of lotus, the blue of the sea and the brilliant red of the sunset on the sea.

All create a harmonious, vibrant and joyful symphony of colors.

"These designs represent the convergence between traditional culture and modern fashion.

It is still the yếm and áo tứ thân but they are transformed to be softer, more airy and closer, especially for young people.

Traditional culture is inherently beautiful, but it needs to be more approachable to suit the tastes of today's youth, while promoting traditional beauty" - Dung Nguyen shared with Tuoi Tre Online.

The highlight of the designs is the use of flowers as the main motif. These are large, colorful chrysanthemums, pure white lilies of the valley, or brilliant lotus flowers...

Fashionistas clearly recognize the image of the ao dai that Dung Nguyen transformed from the yếm and áo tứ thân through details such as the collar, flap or sleeves.

"Van Vuong" collection includes 40 designs

The photo series was taken in Trang An, Ninh Binh.

The collar and skirt details are taken from the familiar ao dai.

Through the Van Vuong collection, Dung Nguyen wishes to honor each woman as a beautiful, brilliant flower with its own value.

"No matter what kind of flower it is, let's be beautiful, confident and fragrant in our own way" - Dung Nguyen emphasized.

In this collection, in addition to applying traditional hand embroidery techniques, Dung Nguyen also combines applique techniques, creating 3D shapes on organza material, creating a sense of lightness for the wearer.

Many artists love Dung Nguyen's designs.

Dung Nguyen shared that he came to fashion design by chance. Because his starting point was a makeup artist with 15 years of experience in the profession.

"At that time, I thought makeup and clothing had to be related and in sync to highlight each person's unique beauty.

From that thought, I practiced design and stuck with fashion from learning without going to any formal school" - Dung Nguyen said.

The yếm was created to be more intimate for the wearer.

Dung Nguyen prefers bright colors

He launched the Tulip hand-embroidered ao dai brand that attracted attention in Hanoi during Tet and was chosen by families to wear.

Dung Nguyen has helped many people change their perspective from being afraid to wear Ao Dai or wearing Ao Dai makes them look older... to loving Ao Dai more, choosing to wear Ao Dai for important events.

After 8 years of pursuing design, Dung Nguyen has introduced many new collections every year, which are favored by many famous artists such as: artists Lan Huong, Kim Xuan, beauty queen Ky Duyen, Luong Thuy Linh, singer Duong Hoang Yen, actress Hong Diem, Phan Minh Huyen, Thuy Anh... In addition, many artists also choose his wedding fashion designs for their big day such as: Midu, Ho Quang Hieu, Phuong Mai, Rhymastic, Pong Chuan, MC Duc Bao, MC Mai Ngoc...

Dung Nguyen revealed that this year he will organize a fashion show to mark his 8-year journey with Ao Dai.

Designer Dung Nguyen compares each design to a flower.

Floral motifs accentuate designs

Talking about the reason for moving to the South, Dung Nguyen shared: "Ho Chi Minh City is a dynamic land with great potential for artistic development. Like many people, I want to live, work and contribute in a dynamic and developing environment like Ho Chi Minh City."
