( Bqp.vn ) - On the morning of August 7, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department (VPA) held the opening ceremony of the pre-deployment training course and field exercise for Engineering Team No. 3 (DCB3) and Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 (BVDC2.6) participating in the United Nations Peacekeeping operations in 2024. Major General Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, chaired the ceremony.

Attending the opening ceremony were leaders of the Engineering Corps, the Special Forces Officer School; representatives of leaders and commanders of several Army units; experts from the European Union (EU) providing technical support to the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department; and a delegation of experts from the United Kingdom who came to observe, provide professional support and evaluate the exercise.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Pham Manh Thang emphasized that this training course aims to equip officers and staff of the 3rd Field Hospital and 2nd Field Hospital with basic knowledge of UN peacekeeping operations and some necessary skills to carry out tasks at the Missions. In addition, the training course also updates the situation of the United Nations Interim Security Mission in Abyei (UNISFA) and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), preparing all aspects of the 3rd Field Hospital and 2nd Field Hospital before they depart to carry out their missions. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to assess the overall capacity of the 3rd Field Hospital and 2nd Field Hospital before deploying to participate in UN peacekeeping operations.

In order for the training course to achieve the highest quality and efficiency, meeting the tasks of the Ministry of National Defense and the requirements of the United Nations, Major General Pham Manh Thang requested that the lecturers actively prepare lesson plans and lectures; research and update new knowledge, changes or adjustments of the Missions; and train close to the reality and requirements of the Missions. After the end of each training section, there will be specific comments and assessments for each trainee and each training unit. The trainees should promote positivity, initiative, and self-awareness in studying, grasping the necessary knowledge and skills; strictly complying with the discipline and regulations of the training course, ensuring absolute security and safety before, during and after the training.

Major General Pham Manh Thang also requested the Organizing Committee to closely coordinate and cooperate with relevant units in preparing and organizing training; organizing training according to the plan, program, and training schedule approved by superiors, ensuring the achievement of the set goals and requirements.
According to the plan, the training course contents will be implemented in 5 phases: Training phase according to the United Nations pre-deployment training documents (CPTM); Training phase according to specific tasks at the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission; Training phase on regulations, regimes and policies of the Vietnam People's Army; Training phase on supplementary skills for units and Field exercise phase.
