The “Brightness” House is a pilot model, implemented to support women and girls with disabilities who are victims of gender-based violence. The house was completed with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the framework of the Inclusion Project 1.

The “Binh Minh” house includes a consulting room and a shelter room with a suitable design, making it easy for people with disabilities to access. The shelter room is fully equipped with necessary utensils and equipment, a kitchen and a private toilet. Coming to the “Binh Minh” house, women and girls with disabilities will also receive thoughtful and thorough advice, ensuring privacy in the consulting room area.

According to ACDC Director Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, women and girls with disabilities are the most vulnerable of the vulnerable. Compared to women without disabilities, the rate of women with disabilities suffering from violence by their husbands and intimate partners is higher. Therefore, the establishment of a shelter with full accessibility will help victims of gender-based violence with disabilities feel more secure and comfortable during the shelter process and then reintegrate into the community.

“We believe that the establishment of the “Binh Minh” house will help the cooperation and participation of relevant parties become closer and more harmonious, helping more women and girls with disabilities,” Ms. Lan Anh shared.

It is known that on the same morning, ACDC Institute also coordinated with relevant units to hand over a “Binh Minh” house in Thua Thien Hue province. Thus, up to now, ACDC Institute has handed over and put into use 3 “Binh Minh” houses nationwide.
