At the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping arrived in Hanoi, starting a State visit to Vietnam from April 14 to 15, 2025.

On the afternoon of April 14, the official welcoming ceremony for General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping was solemnly held at the Presidential Palace according to the highest protocol reserved for welcoming heads of state.

A large number of children and people in the capital, holding flags and flowers, warmly welcomed General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and the high-ranking delegation of the Chinese Party and State.

The motorcade carrying General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping entered the Presidential Palace. General Secretary To Lam warmly welcomed General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, who led a high-ranking delegation of the Chinese Party and State on a state visit to Vietnam.

Amidst the welcoming music, General Secretary To Lam invited General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to step up to the podium. The military band played the national anthems of China and Vietnam, and a 21-gun salute was fired from the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long during the welcoming ceremony. After listening to the national anthems of the two countries, General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping left the podium, bowed to the military flag, and inspected the Honor Guard of the Vietnam People's Army. The two leaders then introduced the members of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries attending the welcoming ceremony.

Vietnam and China are close neighbors, mountains connected to mountains, rivers connected to rivers, and the people of the two countries have a long-standing traditional friendship. Since the two sides established the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in 2008, especially after the historic mutual visits of the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries in recent years, bilateral relations have made strong, comprehensive and remarkable developments in many fields.

This State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping is an important foreign political event of the two Parties and two countries, of strategic significance, with long-term impacts on the development of Vietnam-China relations in the context of the two countries entering a new era, a new era of development. This is Comrade Xi Jinping's fourth visit to Vietnam in his position as the highest leader of the Party and State of China and the second visit during the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China; especially taking place during the "Year of Humanitarian Exchange", commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations (1950 - 2025).
