Quang Minh is one of the communes actively implementing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Van Ho district. In addition to the State's financial support, the commune has stepped up propaganda and mobilized people to contribute labor days to help households dismantle houses, move furniture, and clear land... Mr. Do Thanh Tung, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, informed: The commune has established a Steering Committee to implement the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses, assigning specific tasks to members and taking responsibility for the assigned work. Up to now, the commune has mobilized over 300 labor days, completing the elimination of 9 temporary and dilapidated houses, reaching the finish line nearly 1 month ahead of schedule.
At the end of 2024, joy came to the family of Mr. Vi Van Tuyet in Bo village, Quang Minh commune, one of the poor households approved and supported with 60 million VND to build a new house. During the construction process, his family also received favorable conditions from the commune to borrow an additional 100 million VND from the District Social Policy Bank Transaction Office; mass organizations and people of the commune and village helped, contributed working days, leveled the ground, and transported materials. After 2 months of construction, the solid level 4 house with a total area of 35 m² was completed, helping his family to celebrate the Lunar New Year of At Ty in a new, warmer house.
Mr. Vi Van Tuyet excitedly said: Before, every time there was heavy rain or strong wind, my family was afraid that the house would collapse. I am very grateful for the attention and support of the State and the support of the people of the commune and village to build a house. From now on, with a new house and a stable life, my wife and I will try to do business and develop the family economy.
That is just one of hundreds of poor households in Van Ho district that have been gradually stabilizing their lives thanks to the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. From January 2025 to now, the district has directed the communes to mobilize more than 5,200 working days and completed the elimination of 162 temporary and dilapidated houses; of which, 147 new houses were built and 15 houses were repaired; the total support cost is over 3.7 billion VND. The support is deployed to the right subjects, ensuring progress and quality. The Steering Committee from the district to the grassroots directly directs, inspects, and supervises the construction of houses to ensure quality and progress to complete the set goals.
Mr. Nguyen The Phuong, Chairman of Van Ho District People's Committee, said: Up to now, the district has received 9.1 billion VND in funding to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. The district steering committee is continuing to review and supplement, ensuring that no one is left out. According to statistics, there are currently 224 poor households in the district that will continue to receive support to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. We are determined to set a goal of completing this before May 19, 2025.

With high determination, creative approaches and the solidarity of the whole society, we believe that Van Ho will complete the temporary housing elimination on schedule, contributing effectively to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction and new rural construction.
