Muong La has 9,647 hectares of fruit trees and hawthorn trees; of which, 2,799 hectares are mango, 917 hectares are longan, 1,992 hectares are banana, 2,500 hectares are hawthorn, the rest are pineapple, citrus fruit trees, with an expected output of 33,000 tons. Mr. Nguyen Van Tam, Vice Chairman of Muong La District People's Committee, said: To support people and cooperatives, the district has developed a plan for consumption and export of agricultural products in 2025. Thereby, clearly defining the output, season, and specific consumption plan for each type of fruit, businesses, cooperatives, and small traders registered for consumption in the area, and the market for each type of agricultural product.
The District Department of Agriculture and Environment and the District Agricultural Service Center regularly send staff to coordinate with communes and towns to guide cooperatives and farming households to apply good agricultural production processes, VietGAP for mango, longan, banana; link production according to the value chain, ensure quality, food safety and codes for growing areas, packaging facilities. Thanks to the support of state management agencies, up to now, Muong La district has 104 hectares of mango, 122 hectares of longan, 407 hectares of banana with growing area codes, 45 hectares of mango, 40 hectares of longan, 80 hectares of banana with VietGAP certification and 20 hectares of hawthorn with organic certification.
Muong Bu is the commune with the largest fruit growing area in the district, with 1,976 hectares, 6 cooperatives producing and consuming agricultural products. Mr. Lo Van Thuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Minh Thuong Cooperative, Sub-area 2, said: The cooperative has 7 members, an area of 34 hectares of mango, 20 hectares of longan; of which, 20 hectares meet VietGAP standards. Currently, mangoes have reached a weight of 300-400g/fruit, and early ripening longan is about to be harvested. The cooperative always guides and supervises members in implementing the care process, ensuring product quality meets VietGAP standards.
As for Muong Bu Agricultural Cooperative, with 12 members, it is managing 40 hectares of mango, 16 hectares of longan, 20 hectares of apple, guava and citrus fruit trees. The Cooperative cooperates with more than 100 households in the province to consume products. Mr. Vu Dang Ke, Director of the Cooperative, said: The Cooperative encourages members to apply science and technology, improve productivity and quality of crops. Up to now, all fruit trees of the Cooperative have achieved VietGAP certification. Every day, it supplies 3-5 tons of vegetables, tubers and fruits to the market in the province and Hanoi.
More good news for Muong La farmers about the consumption of agricultural products in the 2025 crop year, currently, the Factory for preserving, processing and producing agricultural products, Ban Cop, Muong Bu commune, of Musa Green Joint Stock Company is in the stage of assembling the production line and is expected to be put into operation in the second quarter of 2025. The factory has a designed capacity of preserving from 4,000 to 6,000 tons of agricultural products each year, producing 1 million m³ of banana fiber and using an average of 5 tons of bananas/day to produce banana powder and banana products... with a total expected revenue of nearly 560 billion VND/year.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tam added: To ensure stable output for agricultural products, Muong La district hopes that all levels and sectors will support cooperatives, businesses, and individuals to build and protect trademarks for exported agricultural products: mango, banana, longan; extend the export packaging code for bananas. At the same time, support the district to attract factories to process hawthorn and other fruits, helping to increase the value of agricultural products.
With detailed plans and scenarios for consumption of each type of agricultural product and the efforts of enterprises, cooperatives and households, Muong La district aims to connect and consume all agricultural products, including: Domestic consumption of 28,600 tons of fruit; export of about 3,400 tons of fresh bananas and 1,000 tons of mangoes to China.
