In the period of 2021-2025, the Standing Committee of Phu Yen District Party Committee has focused on directing the transformation of the agricultural economic structure towards modernization, promoting the application of high technology, developing organic agriculture, associated with building and promoting local agricultural product brands. Directing the District People's Committee to issue policies to support farmers and cooperatives to expand organic production areas; organizing technical training, organic farming processes, VietGAP; at the same time, promoting the application of digital transformation in production and promotion of agricultural products, focusing on strong products to bring high-quality products to consumers.

Ms. Dinh Thi Thu Ha, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of Phu Yen District People's Committee, said: The district has supported more than 10 billion VND for cooperatives and cooperatives to produce organic agriculture; built many pilot economic models for evaluation and replication. Many types of crops, such as rice, oranges, sweet tangerines, etc. have been converted to organic production, with initial positive results and high appreciation from consumers. By the end of April 2025, the whole district had nearly 700 hectares of crops produced in an organic direction.

In 2019, Phu Yen district began applying the organic rice growing process, currently reaching about 500 hectares in Huy Tan, Huy Ha communes and Quang Huy town. Of which, 130 hectares have been granted organic certification, the selling price of rice is 25-30 thousand VND/kg, 5-10 thousand VND higher than rice produced by traditional methods. Organic production helps restore the rice field ecosystem, opens the way for developing agricultural tourism and combining fish farming models, increasing income for farmers.

In the spring crop of 2024, Phu Yen district continues to implement the "My home field" model, with an area of ​​82,000 m² in Chieng Thuong sub-area, Quang Huy town. Nearly 100 participating households have been instructed to use the EGAP electronic diary to record the production process, including pesticide dosage and fertilizer application time, helping to make product information transparent to customers and support farmers to adjust fertilizers appropriately according to each stage of rice growth.

Mr. Ha Quoc Khanh, Chieng Thuong sub-district, Quang Huy town, said: After two seasons participating in the “My family’s fields” model, his family’s more than 2,000 m² of organic rice received technical support in each stage. Thanks to co-ownership, the output is stable, each season yields 1.6 tons of rice, minus expenses, earning a profit of about 30 million VND.

In Tan Lang, Muong Thai, and Muong Coi communes, many gardeners have applied clean and safe agricultural production processes. By the end of April 2025, the entire region had 200/600 hectares of fruit trees produced according to VietGAP standards and organic orientation. The district organized training and guidance on organic fertilizer application techniques, pest control, and supported people in switching to safe production, limiting the use of chemicals, and ensuring the quality of agricultural products. Thanks to that, the products are highly appreciated by consumers and consumed conveniently.

In the 2025 fruit crop, Mr. Nguyen Van Su, Nghia Hung village, Muong Coi commune, Phu Yen district, expanded 2 hectares of organic sweet tangerine cultivation, bringing the family's total organic area to 5 hectares. Mr. Su said: After the 2024 fruit crop, some members of Nghia Hung Cooperative proposed expanding the organic area to increase product value. As the director of the cooperative, I proactively planted 2 hectares of organic tangerines, applying new production knowledge to help the trees grow well. The first harvest is expected in 2026.

Grasping the trend of consuming clean and safe agricultural products, Phu Yen district has mobilized people to switch to organic production. Along with the application of high technology in production, it not only improves the quality and value of products, but also contributes to protecting the environment and building a brand of local agricultural products, helping farmers get rich in their homeland.
