The 2024 Insurance Journalism Award was launched in April 2024, with 1,390 entries on insurance published and broadcast from January to December 2024. Through the preliminary, preliminary and final rounds, the Jury selected 23 outstanding entries to award prizes.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Vice President of Vietnam Insurance Association said: "In 2024, the insurance industry has undergone a strong transformation, from implementing a series of solutions to support customers to quickly overcome natural disasters to reforming operations to continue to bring positive experiences to customers, based on the strong belief that, in any circumstance, individuals, families or businesses being protected by insurance is still the most sustainable choice in a volatile and constantly changing world."

According to Journalist Nguyen Duc Loi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Head of the Jury, in 2024, the Vietnamese insurance market has undergone significant changes, facing both challenges and opportunities for development. In that context, the role and companionship of the press has become more important than ever.

“Through the entries, we can clearly see the movements and continuous efforts of the Vietnamese insurance industry,” said Mr. Loi, analyzing one of the highlights being the proactive and responsible spirit of insurance companies in the face of challenges from natural disasters. Typhoon No. 3 Yagi, which made landfall in early September 2024, caused great damage to people’s lives, business operations and the economy, and many press works promptly reflected and analyzed all aspects of insurance during this storm.

The work "Insurance industry and the story of healing the 'wound' of trust" by author Huong Giang - Banking Times - won the Special Prize.

Three A Prizes were awarded to: “Billions from insurance partly compensate for relatives” by Bong Mai – Tuoi Tre Newspaper; a series of articles “Where is agricultural insurance when farmers suffer heavy losses?” by a group of authors from Dan Viet Electronic Newspaper; and “Insurance profiteering: When insurance companies play the role of victims” by Xuan Thach – Finance Investment Magazine.

The B Prize was awarded to four works, including reports by Vietnam Television, Ho Chi Minh City Television, VietNamNet and the State Tax Magazine. In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded 5 C Prizes and 10 Encouragement Prizes to recognize the efforts, creativity and dedication of journalists in objectively and comprehensively reflecting outstanding issues of the insurance industry.

Also according to journalist Nguyen Duc Loi, in many other topics, the works did not avoid but frankly analyzed the causes such as challenges in trust, helping businesses identify their strengths and weaknesses, thereby making appropriate adjustments and improvements, aiming for transparency, improving service quality, putting customers' interests first and considering it the only way to develop. In particular, insurance fraud has received great attention from journalists, from clarifying the current situation, analyzing the causes and proposing a system of solutions to prevent, handle effectively, and protect the common interests of the community of insurance participants. In addition, the entries also reflect the diverse development of insurance products, from marine insurance, life insurance, motor vehicle insurance... to the trend of green insurance, guarantee insurance..., showing the adaptation and expansion of the market to meet the increasingly diverse needs and expectations of society.

“In the judging process, we appreciate journalistic works that show sharp and multi-dimensional perspectives on current issues, topics that people, businesses, and the social community are interested in, even controversial issues, businesses that are receiving criticism... However, under the passionate pens of journalists, these issues are analyzed with an open mind, with full opinions from relevant parties, from consumers, businesses, independent experts, state management agencies..., demonstrating balance and fairness in reporting, while proposing practical solutions to continue the market's sustainable development, bringing benefits to people, businesses and the country", said the Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

Also at the Award Ceremony, Mr. Bui Gia Anh, General Secretary of the Vietnam Insurance Association emphasized that the success of the past 6 seasons is that through press works, journalists and press agencies have helped build a solid bridge, so that State management agencies, businesses and consumers can exchange, dialogue and together build a transparent, healthy and sustainable insurance market.

Following these successes, the Association officially launched the 2025 Insurance Journalism Award.
