Opening of the 2025 National Sepak Takraw Championship for Excellent Teams

The tournament attracted nearly 200 athletes from 12 provinces and cities across the country, including: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Bac Giang, Yen Bai, Nghe An, Dong Nai, People's Public Security, Vinh Long, Dong Thap, Soc Trang, Thanh Hoa and Thua Thien Hue. The athletes competed in 6 categories: 4-man team, 4-woman team, 3-man team, 3-woman team, men's doubles and women's doubles.

The opening ceremony took place at District 6 Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City.

In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Nam Nhan, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, said that this year's National Sepak Takraw Championship gathered excellent athletes from provinces and cities across the country, promising to bring the audience beautiful and emotional performances. This is also an opportunity for athletes to exchange and learn from each other, thereby improving their professional skills, promoting the development of Sepak Takraw in particular and the national sports movement in general.

Mr. Nguyen Nam Nhan - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports delivered the opening speech.

To ensure the success of the tournament, the Organizing Committee requests that referees operate the tournament objectively and in accordance with the law, and that athletes compete with a spirit of solidarity, honesty, nobility, and progress, and strictly comply with the tournament's regulations and rules.

According to experts, the teams participating in the tournament are well prepared in terms of expertise, technique and competition force.

This year's tournament brings together many units with strong Sepak Takraw movements such as Hanoi, Nghe An, Vinh Long, Dong Nai, People's Police... promising to bring the audience exciting and beautiful matches.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, 3 matches took place between the teams: Ho Chi Minh City vs Nghe An; Yen Bai vs Hue City; Dong Nai vs Soc Trang.

The tournament runs until April 24, 2024.
