
On April 15, Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee held an extraordinary conference to give opinions on the Project on rearranging provincial and communal administrative units in Ben Tre province. At the conference, representatives of the Department of Home Affairs approved the Submission on the Draft Resolution of the Provincial People's Council on approving the policy on rearranging provincial and communal administrative units in Ben Tre province.
According to the draft, regarding the arrangement of commune-level administrative units, Ben Tre province will merge and reduce from the current 148 communes, wards and towns to 48 communes and wards (reducing 100 administrative units), including 43 communes and 5 wards, reaching a rate of 67.56%.
Delegates attending the conference basically agreed with the content of the report, and at the same time believed that the policy of arranging administrative units at the provincial and communal levels is to create space for development. During the process of merging administrative units, there should not be too many changes in name, ensuring historical and cultural factors... to create high consensus among the people.

Concluding the conference, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Ben Tre Provincial People's Council Ho Thi Hoang Yen emphasized the arrangement of commune-level administrative units with the aim of creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development, improving the material and spiritual life of the people, and facilitating state management work at the local level.
At the same time, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the People's Council of Ben Tre province Ho Thi Hoang Yen requested the Standing Committees of the District Party Committees and City Party Committees to direct agencies to coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs to organize public consultation on the content of the arrangement of administrative units at the provincial and communal levels, to be completed no later than April 17, 2025. Direct the organization of a meeting of the People's Council at the communal level before April 19, 2025, and a meeting of the People's Council at the district level before April 22, 2025 to approve the policy of arranging administrative units at the communal level, report to the standing agency of the Provincial Steering Committee (Department of Home Affairs), so that on April 26, 2025, the Provincial People's Council will approve the Project on arranging administrative units at the provincial and communal levels.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and socio-political organizations organize propaganda and mobilization to create high consensus among all classes of people when organizing to collect opinions on the policy of not organizing at the district level and reorganizing the commune-level administrative units. Coordinate to collect opinions from voters who are representatives of households residing in the area on the Project to merge commune-level and provincial administrative units according to regulations.
The Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee coordinates with relevant agencies and units to advise the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee to coordinate in developing a project to merge provincial administrative units according to regulations. At the same time, it will study and advise on developing a plan to arrange and organize the staff of provincial, district and communal officials to operate smoothly starting from July 1, 2025.
The Provincial Party Committee Office presides over and coordinates with Party committees at all levels, units, and localities to conduct inspections, review, and provide guidance and recommendations to competent authorities to complete the digitization of documents of Party committees, agencies, and organizations before rearranging administrative units; ensuring economical and effective management and use of assets, finances, and headquarters according to regulations.
