With the goal of preserving and promoting the role of relics associated with the development and diversification of local tourism products, Dong Nai is stepping up propaganda and perfecting destinations to attract tourists from all over the world to visit red addresses in the province.

Impressive historical destinations

During the resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism of the army and people of the Southeast region, Dong Nai was both the rear base and an important front line of the revolutionary forces. During the resistance war, places such as: The Southeast Region Party Committee Base - War Zone D in Vinh Cuu district; The Rung Sac Military Special Zone Command Base and the 10th Rung Sac Special Forces Group in Nhon Trach district; or the relics: Tan Hiep Prison, Nha Xanh in Bien Hoa city; Nhon Trach tunnels... have recorded the feats, patriotism, and examples of sacrifice for national independence of the army and people of Dong Nai. Up to now, these places have become red addresses for young generations to nurture their love for their homeland and country with great pride.

One of the famous red addresses of Dong Nai today is the Central Bureau of Southern Region Base Relic (War Zone D, 1961-1962) in Ma Da forest area, Vinh Cuu district. During its operation, War Zone D was assigned the task of leading the Southern revolution to fight against American imperialism to save the country.

Director of the Center for Ecology, Culture and History of War Zone D (belonging to Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve) Nguyen Van Ha said that the center of War Zone D is about 60km from Saigon. The terrain of War Zone D is mainly plains, forests and hills, covered with multi-layered mixed forests. Inside the base, there are hundreds of rivers and streams belonging to the Dong Nai River basin, forming unique natural defense lines. Dozens of strategic and tactical traffic routes run around and intertwine inside the base. The above terrain factors, combined with the position blocking the corridor connecting the North and Central regions to the Southeast, give War Zone D a formidable military position. War Zone D became the gathering place for human and material resources from the large rear base in the North to support the South along the Truong Son route to the Southern Central Highlands.

Located in Trang Bom district, Bien Hoa Provincial Party Committee Base Relic Site (U1) has recently become an attractive destination, a red address with stories about patriotism, bravery, and solidarity of the Vietnamese revolutionary forces in the resistance war against the US to save the country. U1 has invested in building many large-scale works such as: Monument cluster of 3 armed forces with a bas-relief symbolizing solidarity and the struggle for national independence; Memorial temple to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh, heroes who contributed and sacrificed for the Vietnamese revolution.

Exploiting tourism development potential associated with red addresses

In Bien Hoa city, where there are many key agencies and important tasks of the enemy and us during the revolutionary struggle, many destinations with valuable revolutionary historical values have been left for today such as: Bien Hoa Citadel, Tan Hiep Prison, Green House...

Deputy Head of the Department of Sports and Tourism Management, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DTC) Nguyen Van Hau said that in recent years, the department has always paid attention to developing red address tourism products in Dong Nai. In particular, destinations in Bien Hoa are the center to connect with destinations in many other localities very impressively. Tourism businesses as well as independent tourists are interested in train tours connecting Ho Chi Minh City, listening to historical stories and enjoying Dong Nai specialties.

Coming to Nhon Trach district, tourists visit the martyrs' temple and visit Nhon Trach tunnels. This is a special historical site in Dong Nai, marking the resilient spirit and ingenious military strategy of the Vietnamese people during the resistance war against American imperialism.

Nhon Trach Tunnels is a destination that many schools organize for students to visit, participate in extracurricular activities, and return to the source programs to help them better understand the heroic history of our army and people during the years of resistance against American imperialism. Coming to Nhon Trach Tunnels, tourists and students will learn more information about the unique underground tunnel system, where revolutionary forces were hidden and protected, fighting with the goal of liberating the South and unifying the country.

Mr. Nguyen Hung, a young tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, shared that his first time visiting Nhon Trach tunnels and learning about the heroic historical stories of his ancestors made him very proud. According to Mr. Hung, through visiting the exhibition area and hearing about each souvenir collected during the resistance war, he could see the hardships, bravery and patriotism of the Vietnamese people.

At the provincial tourism sector conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung emphasized that in 2025, along with accelerating the progress of project implementation, units and localities need to focus on developing tourism products in parallel with preserving and promoting local revolutionary historical values; at the same time, performing the task of preserving and promoting national cultural identity. Honoring role models and national heroes through festival events...
