''I am honored to have contributed a small part to the journey of bringing glory to the Fatherland. This is not only an individual achievement but also comes from the guidance of the teachers in the team, the school, along with the companionship and encouragement from my family'' , Tien Hung recalled the moment his name was called up to the international podium to receive the gold medal.
At this year's International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), all four contestants of the Vietnamese team won medals, including three gold medals and one silver medal. Nguyen Huu Tien Hung won the gold medal with the highest score of 77.35/100 points, ranking 17th out of more than 300 contestants.
The achievement of the male student from Bac Ninh helped the Vietnamese delegation tie for second place with the US, only behind China in terms of the number of medals, out of 89 participating countries and territories.

Born and raised in the land of learning and mandarin-practicing Kinh Bac, Nguyen Huu Tien Hung trained himself to study from a young age, participating in many provincial-level excellent student competitions. When he was in 8th grade, when he first encountered Chemistry, the young man was fascinated and determined to pursue it.
“I am passionate about Chemistry because it brings experiences and attractions from chemical reactions, creating colorful colors that amaze people. When studying this subject, I can easily explain things and phenomena, research the composition, structure, properties and changes of matter,” Tien Hung said, adding that this is a subject very close to life.
In his spare time, Tien Hung also enjoys going on YouTube to learn about common diseases, through short videos that simply explain the causes and progression of the disease. Every time he watches a video, he learns how to prevent and treat common diseases such as flu and diarrhea, and then tells his family about it.

Seeing his younger brother showing an early passion for Chemistry, Tien Hung's older sister, a former Chemistry student at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, wholeheartedly supported his pursuit of this interesting subject. Thanks to her encouragement, the young man started joining the Chemistry team in 9th grade.
Also in that school year, 10X won first prize in the Chemistry competition for excellent students in Bac Ninh province and was directly admitted to the 10th grade Chemistry class at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted. Here, Tien Hung had more opportunities to explore and learn about interesting things about Chemistry under the guidance of teachers.
According to Tien Hung, to study this subject well, one needs to understand the root cause of the problem, grasp the basic knowledge, and from there solve difficult problems. Therefore, the male student always creates for himself seriousness and self-awareness in studying by creating a reasonable schedule between relaxing and studying.
A male student from Bac Ninh province assessed that the exam questions at this year's IChO had many new and topical points, requiring candidates to have the ability to think comprehensively and perform precise manipulation skills.
"When I received the exam, I was a bit confused because the exam was more difficult than I imagined. However, I quickly regained my composure, remembered the teachers' instructions, and applied all the knowledge I learned at school and in the exam review team to find the answers one by one," the 10X recalled.

By diligently cultivating knowledge and constantly striving during his high school years, Tien Hung has achieved impressive achievements such as: second prize in the national excellent student competition in Chemistry and gold medal in the first Abu Reikhan Beruniy International Chemistry Olympiad, held in Uzbekistan (in grade 11); first prize in the national excellent student competition in Chemistry 2024.
With such outstanding achievements, last June, the Party cell of Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted organized a ceremony to admit outstanding student Nguyen Huu Tien Hung to the Party. Honored to be in the ranks of the Party, Tien Hung feels more mature and responsible in every thought and action.
Sharing his future plans, the male student said he will study at Hanoi Medical University to achieve his dream of becoming a good doctor, treating and helping people. This is also the wish and desire of his family.

Accompanying and closely following Tien Hung at domestic and international competitions, Ms. Vu Thi Len, head teacher of the Chemistry class at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, commented that this student is always diligent, hard-working, and has a progressive spirit in studying.
"On the first day of class, I was impressed with Tien Hung because of his intelligence, agility, and good grasp of lessons. Through the learning and training process, he has increasingly revealed and developed his talent, as well as increasingly asserted himself through excellent academic achievements," said Ms. Len, believing that with his intelligence, agility, and liveliness, in the future, the student will become a good doctor, helping society.
