The top scorer in Hanoi's 10th grade entrance exam achieved 29.75/30 points.
With an entrance exam score of 29.75, Tran Minh Ha, a student from Newton Secondary and High School, became the top scorer in the 2026 public high school entrance exam.
According to the Department of Education and Training, Tran Minh Ha scored 9.25 in Literature, 9.5 in Mathematics, and 10 in English. In addition, she received 1 bonus point. Ha's total admission score is 29.75, making her the top-scoring student this year.
The female student is a 9th grade student at Newton Secondary School. With her score, Ha was accepted into her first choice, Phan Dinh Phung High School, which has a cutoff score of 25.75.
According to the regulations, the admission score for non-specialized 10th grade classes this year will be the sum of the scores of the three subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language (no subject is weighted), along with any bonus or incentive points (if applicable).
Last year, Hanoi had 8 valedictorians, all achieving a score of 28.75/30.
The entrance exam for 10th grade in Hanoi's public high schools took place over two days, May 30-31, with 124,000 candidates, a record number in the last 10 years. With an enrollment quota of approximately 82,660, the pass rate was 66%. The remaining students will attend private high schools, vocational training centers, or continuing education programs.
This year, the cut-off scores for 122 public high schools ranged from 8.5 to 26 points. Kim Lien High School, Le Quy Don High School (Ha Dong), and Yen Hoa High School had the highest cut-off scores.
From June 19th to 25th, educational institutions will receive appeals from students. No later than June 25th, educational institutions will return the application documents and the "Examination Results Notification for the 10th Grade High School Entrance Exam for the 2026-2027 School Year" to students.
From 1:30 PM on June 25th until the end of June 27th, admitted students must confirm their enrollment (online or in person). On July 3rd, the Department of Education and Training and the schools will hold a meeting to review the supplementary admission scores for grade 10.
From July 4-6, candidates confirm their enrollment in person, and the school accepts the admission documents according to regulations. Candidates will receive the results of the appeal process no later than July 9.
