The main items have been basically completed.

In 2019, the Huynh Thuc Khang School of Journalism celebrated its 70th anniversary with the joyful recognition of its status as a National Historical Monument. Today, five years later, the joy continues as the inauguration and handover of the renovated and restored facility approaches.

Speaking with a reporter from the Newspaper & Public Opinion, journalist Than Quang Minh – Head of Professional Affairs Department, Vietnam Press Museum, and member of the Management Board of the Huynh Thuc Khang School of Journalism National Monument – said that, with the desire to continue preserving and promoting the historical value and significance of the Monument in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the School's founding and towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism Day, the Vietnam Press Museum has been directed by the Vietnam Journalists Association to develop a project to restore and renovate the Huynh Thuc Khang School of Journalism site. The museum has been entrusted with the responsibility of being the project's investor by the leaders and departments of Thai Nguyen province…

Following the directives of the leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Vietnam Press Museum regarding participation in the project to restore and preserve the National Monument of the Huynh Thuc Khang School of Journalism, the professional department of the Vietnam Press Museum immediately began implementing the work, including providing input to management consultants, design consultants, and contractors to ensure the project progresses according to schedule.

On January 18, 2024, the groundbreaking ceremony for the restoration and renovation of the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School National Monument was held. To date, after 7 months of construction, with the very active cooperation of the leaders and departments of Thai Nguyen province, Dai Tu district, Tan Thai commune, and the support of the Vietnam National Petroleum Group ( Petrovietnam ), the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School project has basically completed its main components.

The restoration and preservation work on the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School National Monument is being completed urgently.

Accordingly, with the effort not only to recreate history but also to ensure high aesthetic value and add necessary functions, in addition to the Monument erected in 2019, the current restoration and renovation process includes specific components such as: an exhibition house about the Huynh Thuc Khang School of Journalism, in the form of an 80 m2 single-story house built on a high hill, reconstructed according to documented records and some archival images, formerly a bamboo house, now a wooden frame house with a fire-resistant artificial thatched roof; an 80 m2 stilt house exhibiting about the Viet Bac War Zone Journalism 1946-1954, reconstructed from the stilt house of the Viet Minh General Headquarters, where the resistance journalism activities were directly directed and where the Vietnam Journalists Association was founded in 1950; and a relief sculpture with 48 portraits of members of the Board of Directors, lecturers and students of the School. The hall nestled within the hill serves as a venue for conferences, seminars, and other activities, with a capacity of over 150 people; the mini-square, covering 200 square meters, is used for organizing events...

Dedicated to the cause, regardless of sun or rain…

Sharing about the preparations, journalist Than Quang Minh - Head of Professional Affairs Department, Vietnam Press Museum, and member of the Management Board of the Huynh Thuc Khang National Monument for Journalism Training School - said that in these final days, museum staff are completing the last stages from gathering documents and artifacts, working with the design team, and organizing the construction of the exhibition.

“Over the past year, we have become even more attached to the project as well as the land and people of Thai Nguyen, a region rich in cultural, historical, and revolutionary traditions. We have organized dozens of working trips between Hanoi and Thai Nguyen to connect with various units in implementing the assigned tasks. After the project was inaugurated, one of the things that left the deepest impression on us was the precious affection of the people from different units involved in the project, who wholeheartedly worked tirelessly, regardless of the weather, to bring this meaningful project into use as soon as possible… ” – Journalist Quang Minh emphasized.

Mr. Minh also added that after restoration and renovation, the historical site is expected to be used to welcome visiting groups, journalists, media professionals, and students to learn about the history of journalism; it will also be a venue for conferences and seminars on journalism, short-term training programs, a place to issue membership cards of the Vietnam Journalists Association, and a venue for awarding regional and local journalism prizes…

In particular, the Vietnam Journalists Association hopes that when the exhibitions about the Huynh Thuc Khang School of Journalism and the Viet Bac War Zone Journalism are put into operation, they will not only contribute to preserving and introducing valuable journalistic documents and artifacts from the 1946-1954 period, but also affirm the great achievements of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism in the struggles for national defense and in the process of national reconstruction.

And it can be said that in just a few days, on the shores of Lake Nui Coc, reflecting its image onto the historical land of Tan Thai, a complex of historical relics designed and constructed based on the remaining memories and documents of the bamboo-thatched lecture hall on the hill and the stilt house of the Viet Minh General Headquarters will appear as two miniature museums. The Vietnam Press Museum is making efforts to create two exhibitions: "Journalism in the Viet Bac War Zone" and "Huynh Thuc Khang School of Journalism". Equally prominent is the "mini-square" spanning over 200 square meters, with an impressive bas-relief that will surprise and evoke emotions in visitors.

As the investor, the Vietnam Press Museum will coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province, the People's Committee of Dai Tu district, the Relic Management Board, and other relevant units to continue completing and developing plans and projects for the management, protection, and promotion of this historical site. This will connect it with other historical and cultural relics of the Viet Bac War Zone, creating a meaningful tourist route and an attractive cultural and historical destination for domestic and international visitors to commemorate the contributions of our ancestors.
