(LĐ online) - On the afternoon of April 10, Dai Binh Prison under Department C10 of the Ministry of Public Security (located in Loc Thanh commune, Bao Lam district) solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its founding (April 10, 1975 - April 10, 2025).

Colonel Phung Van Hue - Warden of Dai Binh Prison gave a speech commemorating the 50th anniversary of the unit's founding. Accordingly, on October 4, 1975, 4 officers from the People's Security Department of Lam Dong province led 200 prisoners from Da Huoai area to Dai Binh village (Loc Thanh commune, old Bao Loc district), now Loc Thanh commune, Bao Lam district, to build Dai Binh Re-education Camp.

On the first day of its establishment, under the direct direction of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Security Department (now Lam Dong Provincial Police), the officers and soldiers of Dai Binh Re-education Camp constantly made efforts to serve the needs of detention and re-education of a large number of prisoners who were generals and colonels of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, officers, military security, special police, collection teams, and intelligence of the US imperialists and the Republic of Vietnam.

In October 1996, Dai Binh Prison was transferred from Lam Dong Provincial Police to the V26 Department, now the C10 Department of the Ministry of Public Security. In order to promptly meet the requirements of detaining prisoners and providing accommodation for officers and soldiers, the Prison mobilized all potential to build facilities, expand production, offset expenses, gradually improve the food standards of prisoners, and move towards self-sufficiency in food for prisoners.

Currently, Dai Binh Prison has 2 sub-camps, with 240 officers, soldiers, and workers managing more than 3,000 prisoners. The Prison Board focuses on innovating and improving the quality of prisoner education and rehabilitation.

In general, through management, education and rehabilitation, most prisoners comply with the regulations of the detention facility; at the same time, they actively study, reform, and strive to soon complete their prison terms to return to their families and become useful members of society.

Over the past time, the Prison has also fully implemented legal policies and regimes for prisoners such as food, accommodation, medical examination and treatment, organizing family visits, receiving gifts, considering reducing sentences, releasing prisoners, and granting amnesty to thousands of prisoners.

In 2025, implementing the President's amnesty decision on April 30, Dai Binh Prison proposed amnesty for 101 prisoners.

During the past time, the collective of officers and soldiers of the Prison Camp have always strived, studied, trained, and cultivated revolutionary ethics to fulfill assigned tasks well.

Over 50 years of formation and development, Dai Binh Prison has been awarded many noble medals, emulation flags and certificates of merit by the Party, State, Ministry of Public Security, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, General Department 8, Department C10.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Pham Thi Phuc - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Lam Dong province sent her congratulations to the great achievements that the collective of cadres and soldiers of Dai Binh Prison Camp have achieved over the past 50 years. Thereby affirming that the achievements are the sweat, effort, and sacrifice of many generations of cadres and soldiers in the unit. Such dedication and sacrifice are always worthy of the trust and love of the Party, State and People.

Localities and departments, branches, agencies and units in the province jointly contribute materially and spiritually to build the Prison more and more spacious; coordinate to organize meaningful programs and activities to contribute to the reformation and education of prisoners, help those who have made mistakes reintegrate into the community, and become useful people for their families and society.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Pham Van Than - Deputy Director of Department C10 acknowledged and commended the achievements of Dai Binh Prison. At the same time, he requested that in the coming time, the leaders, officers and soldiers of the Prison should proactively coordinate and seek the attention and support of local Party committees, authorities, police forces, army and people in the stationed area, and the cooperation of prisoners' families to ensure security and safety in the management, detention, education and rehabilitation of prisoners to reintegrate into the community, reducing the risk of recidivism.

The Chairman of Bao Lam District People's Committee also awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 groups and 7 individuals of Dai Binh Prison.
