In addition, the TSJ also summoned representatives from 38 political parties supporting the candidates to examine previously unreleased voting records.
According to Venezuelan state television (VTV) , the President of the National Electoral Council, Elvis Amoroso, handed over the election monitoring reports to the TSJ but has not yet released them, as well as related reports and the declaration that Nicolas Maduro has been elected president for the 2025-2031 term.
The head of the TSJ pointed out that the highest court will begin “the process of examining the submitted documents” for up to 15 days, and possibly extend it, after which the Venezuelan National Electoral Council (CNE) will publish the minutes to clarify any doubts about the announced results.
Previously, on August 2nd, the Central Election Commission (CNE) announced the results of counting 96.87% of the votes, confirming that incumbent President Nicolas Maduro had won with 51.95% of the vote. However, opposition candidate Edmundo González declared that he did not recognize the results.
Maduro filed a petition with the TSJ requesting certification of the results of the presidential election held on July 28 and asking the court to summon all organizations to "compare all evidence, with the participation of experts at the highest technical level related to the election results."
According to him, summoning candidates and political parties, as well as requesting the court to investigate the election process and related documents, is appropriate.
In other developments, on the same day, August 6th, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino reaffirmed the military's absolute loyalty to President Maduro, after presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez and opposition leader Maria Corina Machado called on the armed forces to "stand with the people."
Earlier, Venezuelan Justice Minister Tarek William Saab announced that authorities had opened a criminal investigation against Edmundo González and María Corina Machado on charges of threatening the country's peace.
