Twenty years ago, on August 12, 2004, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province issued Decision No. 81/QD-UBND establishing the Department of Post and Telecommunications, now the Department of Information and Communications. Over the past 20 years, successive generations of officials have overcome difficulties and challenges together, building a united and strong unit and developing the information and communications sector.
Currently, the Department of Information and Communications has 4 departments and 1 affiliated unit (Information and Communications Technology Center) with 46 officials, civil servants, and employees. The Party branch currently has 26 members and has been a clean and strong Party branch for 20 consecutive years.

Mr. Dau Tung Lam, Director of the Department of Information and Communications, delivered a speech at the commemoration ceremony.
At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the traditions and assessed the significant achievements that the Department of Information and Communications has accomplished in the past.
In particular, state management of press, publishing, printing, distribution, grassroots information, and external information has been implemented strictly and effectively.
In order to promote access to and application of the achievements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, especially the application and development of digital technology , the Department of Information and Communications has advised on the issuance of many important policies, particularly on digital transformation.
The Department of Information and Communications also serves as the permanent agency of the provincial incident response team, regularly reviewing, maintaining, and supporting units in the province to promptly handle cyberattacks and detect information security risks; detecting, warning, and handling cases of computers infected with malware for units and localities.

Former Director of the Department of Information and Communications - Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phu - reminisced about the unit's traditions in its early years of establishment .
State management of postal services, telecommunications, the internet, broadcasting, and radio frequencies has made significant progress.
At the same time, professional activities have been reformed and improved in quality, providing services that meet the requirements of agencies, departments, and units inside and outside the province.
In particular, the province now has over 110 businesses operating in the field of information and communication technology (ICT). These businesses have created stable jobs for over 2,500 workers, with an average income of over 8 million VND per person per month.

With its achievements, the Department of Information and Communications of Ha Tinh Province has received many prestigious awards from the Party, the State, and various sectors and levels. Speaking at the ceremony to congratulate the Department of Information and Communications of Ha Tinh province, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung emphasized that over the past 20 years, the Department of Information and Communications of Ha Tinh has been one of the units that has made many contributions to the overall activities of the Ministry and the information and communications sector nationwide with proposals and contributions in terms of solutions; suggestions for improving institutions, contributing to promoting and aiming towards the overall achievements of the sector.

The achievements of the Ha Tinh Department of Information and Communications have been recognized by all levels and sectors, and have been continuously encouraged and supported to help the unit continue to play a core and pivotal role in promoting the socio-economic development of the province in the digital age; advising the government on the synchronized implementation of measuring the local digital economy; investing in a comprehensive digital infrastructure; exploiting open data to develop the digital economy; preparing a skilled digital workforce; digitally transforming small and medium-sized enterprises; expanding the development space of the digital economy in rural areas; forming digital cooperative models; and promoting rural e-commerce.
The Deputy Minister of Information and Communications requested that the Department of Information and Communications, in its role as the leader of digital transformation activities in the locality, should be even more pioneering, more decisive, and more committed to inspiring, motivating, and accelerating the application of digital technology to open up new economic growth opportunities and contribute to sustainable development in the locality. These tasks require extraordinary efforts from Ha Tinh to create a breakthrough in digital economic development, in which the advisory, leadership, and coordinating role of the Department of Information and Communications is crucial. The past 20 years will be an important prerequisite and a solid foundation for the unit to enter its 20th year with a new mindset, new strength, and new aspirations, effectively implementing the application of digital technology to develop the digital economy in Ha Tinh.

On behalf of the leadership of Ha Tinh province, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau congratulated and commended the efforts and achievements of the Department of Information and Communications over the past period. He also requested the unit to continue to uphold its 20-year tradition, always remaining united, diligent, responsible, and decisive in advising, directing, and leading the relevant sectors and localities in carrying out tasks under the Department's management; and to continue reviewing relevant plans that the department has advised on, considering the addition of content that is consistent with practical requirements.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the Department of Information and Communications to continue closely following the directives, criteria, and tasks issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications to focus on implementation. In particular, it must continuously adhere to the contents of Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee on focusing leadership and direction on digital transformation in Ha Tinh province for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, in order to focus on implementation. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also noted that some mechanisms and policies of the Government and ministries have changed; therefore, the Department of Information and Communications needs to continue to closely monitor and focus on implementation, contributing to the province's development.
