Regarding the university admissions situation, especially the majors that are most prioritized by candidates, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said that this year, the number of candidates registering for pedagogy majors is very large, an increase of 85% compared to 2023.
At the regular Government press conference in July, held on the afternoon of August 5, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son answered some questions related to the university admission registration situation and enrollment registration.
According to the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, there are about 733,000 candidates out of more than 1 million students registered to take the high school graduation exam, this is a fairly high rate, reaching 68.5% (while 2 years ago, this rate was 66.5% and about 64%).
Thereby, this figure proves that the demand for university education of high school graduates has increased as well as related to the labor market, the demand for high-level human resources of society has also increased. This is consistent with the development trend of the country's economy and society.
According to the national master plan until 2023, we must reach 260 students per 10,000 people, which is about 1.3 times higher than the current level. So with the above trend, we will achieve this goal.
Regarding the situation of candidates registering for majors, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training said: Considering both the structure and comparing the increase and decrease compared to previous years, we see that today, when choosing a major, students are advised very carefully about the characteristics and career opportunities of the majors as well as information about the labor market. Therefore, the trend of choosing majors and training fields is reflected through the percentage of students' wishes.

According to the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, as every year, there are a total of nearly 400 training majors, divided into 24 fields. The field with the most candidates registering is business and management, followed by engineering and technology.
In particular, Mr. Hoang Minh Son said: This year, the block of educational sciences and teacher training, that is, the pedagogical industry, has a very large number of registered candidates, an increase of 85% compared to 2023.

Education science and teacher training increased by 85% compared to 2023; The number of wishes in the field of natural sciences increased by 61%.
Meanwhile, there were some fields that decreased, business management decreased by 3%; computers and information technology decreased by about 5%, equivalent to 15,000 wishes.
Overall, the STEM block has about 30% of applicants. The semiconductor design industry has increased by about 30%.
