Regarding the university entrance exam registration situation, especially for the most popular majors, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said that this year, the teacher training sector has a very large number of applicants, an 85% increase compared to 2023.
At the regular government press conference in July, held on the afternoon of August 5th, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son answered some questions related to the university entrance exam registration situation and the registration process.
According to leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, approximately 733,000 out of more than 1 million students registered to take the high school graduation exam. This is a fairly high rate, reaching 68.5% (compared to 66.5% and about 64% in the two previous years).
Therefore, this figure demonstrates that the demand for higher education among high school graduates is increasing, as is related to the labor market and the growing need for highly skilled human resources in society. This is consistent with the socio -economic development trends of the country.
According to the national master plan until 2023, we must reach 260 students per 10,000 people, which is approximately 1.3 times the current number. Therefore, with the current trend, we will achieve this goal.
Regarding the situation of students registering for various majors, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training stated: Considering both the structure and the increase/decrease compared to previous years, we see that today's students are very well advised on the characteristics and career opportunities of each major, as well as having very accurate information about the labor market. Therefore, the trend in choosing majors and training fields is reflected in the percentage of students' applications.

According to leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, as in previous years, there are a total of nearly 400 training programs, divided into 24 fields. The field with the most applicants is business and management, followed by engineering and technology.
Specifically, Mr. Hoang Minh Son stated: This year, the field of educational science and teacher training, i.e., the pedagogical major, has seen a very large number of applicants, an 85% increase compared to 2023.

The number of applications for teacher education and training increased by 85% compared to 2023; the number of applications for natural sciences increased by 61%.
Meanwhile, some fields saw a decline, with business administration down 3%; and computers and information technology down approximately 5%, equivalent to 15,000 applications.
Overall, STEM fields account for approximately 30% of the applications. Semiconductor integrated circuit design saw an increase of about 30%.
