In order to support members in developing the economy and developing commercial goat farming models in the area, the Farmers' Association of Nam Can Commune, Ky Son District, Nghe An Province has established and launched the Goat Farmer's Association in Pa Ca village with 10 members.
The members of the association are all experienced local goat farmers. With a total herd of 150 to 160 goats, the average annual income for a member is 25 to 30 million VND.

"The main source of food for the goats is taken advantage of by the villagers from forest trees. In addition, the villagers also feed the goats with corn and cassava to supplement starch. At the same time, the villagers also build barns to ensure the goats are protected from the sun and cold.
"Goats raised for 3 months will reach the weight and quality that can be sold. Therefore, people's income is also more regular and stable," said Mr. Ho Ba Po - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Nam Can commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An province.
Previously, small-scale goat farmers, although experienced in raising goats, had difficulty finding outlets for their products, so they did not dare to expand their scale.
Realizing that the establishment of a Goat Farmer Association would bring many benefits to the family, the members discussed and agreed on the operating regulations. In addition, the Farmers' Association at all levels also accompanied, guided and supported the Goat Farmer Association to soon come into operation.
The Goat Farmer Association was established with the aim of exchanging experiences in raising goats, proactively applying scientific and technical advances, and connecting with local and foreign traders to come to the site for purchasing.

Currently, the goat herds of families are stable, with an average of over 20 meat goats sold annually, each weighing about 20kg, and the selling price ranges from 80,000 VND to 100,000 VND/kg. In addition to raising goats for meat, each household has about 10 breeding female goats. The number of breeding goats is guaranteed to increase and restore the herd in livestock farming.
At the launching ceremony, Mr. Ho Ba Po - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Nam Can commune acknowledged and commended the efforts of Pa Ca village members in implementing the targets and tasks for 2024, especially the attention paid to implementing the target of establishing a professional association.
At the same time, the Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Nam Can commune also hopes that in the coming time, the local Goat Farmer's Association will operate in an orderly and effective manner, develop breeding herds, improve productivity and quality to further improve income and stabilize the lives of the members of the Association.
In addition, the Association carries out linkages in production and economic development, contributing to promoting the emulation movement of farmers in good production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and reduce poverty in the locality.
Thereby, gradually transforming production methods from fragmented and small-scale to commodity production, meeting market demand, focusing on production according to value chains, ensuring stable output towards an agricultural economy in the new era.
