Shuttle seeder 07
Mr. Ngo Van Tu, a farmer in Ward 1, Bao Loc City (Lam Dong Province) quickly put the seedling trays filled with soil into the seeding machine. The seeding machine ran smoothly, and in just a few dozen seconds, a tray of vegetables was sown evenly.
Mr. Ngo Van Tu shared: “This is called the 07 shuttle machine because this name reminds me of many of its properties. The shuttle machine because of the circular operation like a shuttle, moving back and forth gently like the weaving shuttle of our Bao Loc people. And 07 is the number commemorating the year I started my career in making agricultural machinery.”
As traditional farmers of the mountain town, Mr. Ngo Van Tu and his wife - Mrs. Khuc Thi Le are also attached to mountain town crops such as coffee and tea.
During a visit in 2007, Mr. Ngo Van Tu was fascinated by the large machines of a company specializing in producing vegetable seeds in Duc Trong district. Back home, Mr. Tu thought for a long time that machines help farmers produce vegetable seeds a lot, both quickly and conveniently.
He said that at that time, Bao Loc had many farmers producing vegetable seeds. Most of the people did it manually, from shoveling soil into trays, to sowing seeds in trays to growing plants, all by hand. Even for those who were familiar with it and had good techniques, the work was still very slow.

Mr. Ngo Van Tu, the farmer who invented the seeding machine, is operating the shuttle seeding machine 07. Mr. Tu is a farmer in Ward 1, Bao Loc City (Lam Dong Province).
At the same time, due to hand sowing, missing seeds and sticking seeds are inevitable.
A vegetable tray, with 2-3 plants in the compartment, sometimes there are no plants, the gardener has to use manpower to sow to compensate. Because of that, the quality of vegetable trays is not uniform, some plants are big, some are small. So the curiosity of the farmer is awakened.
Mr. Tu researched and learned techniques in manufacturing agricultural machinery for nurseries. He said that a soil grinder to make mixed substrate is not difficult, the main thing is to grind it evenly and mix it properly.
As for the seeding machine, he said, the technical requirements are complicated. After much research, in 2007, Mr. Tu launched the first set of machines including a set of three machines for building soil, a soil ball machine and a seeding machine.
Instructions for repairing computers via the internet
The very special feature of the trio of machines made by Mr. Ngo Van Tu is that they are compact and easy to use, especially for small nurseries, Mr. Tu said.
He shared that for most medium-sized gardens, the machines are too big, the capacity is too high, people do not use them all and the price is very expensive, especially imported machines. Instead, he makes machines with moderate capacity, easy to control, easy to repair.
“The machines I make are mechanical, run in a viscous environment, are durable, and easy to use. Because they are mainly mechanical, they are very durable, hard to break, and if they break, they are easy to fix.
"People who are a little familiar with the job, when the machine has problems, they can communicate with me via Zalo or Facebook. I just need to look and I can tell what's broken, and it's also very convenient to guide people to fix it. The machines are so modern, it's hard for people to know how to fix them," Mr. Ngo Van Tu shared with a smile.
Although it is said to be a medium capacity machine, the shuttle machine 07 alone specializes in sowing seeds with a capacity of up to 480 trays/hour, equal to 5-6 people specializing in sowing seeds by hand.
For those who are not familiar with the work, the speed can be adjusted to slow down the machine, making it easier for farmers to operate, Mr. Tu said. The machine is small, not expensive, easy to use, easy to operate, many gardeners in Bao Loc area as well as neighboring districts come to place orders with Ngo Tu facility.
In addition to manufacturing machines to supply to local people, Mr. Ngo Van Tu's family also has a nursery to serve neighboring farmers.
He said the nursery not only makes use of his family's machinery, but is also a place for him to gain experience and make changes.
“I use the machine in production in my family’s garden. If I see any problems or any problems, I will immediately improve it. It is very convenient,” Mr. Tu commented. Therefore, the machines of the facility are improved every year, becoming more and more convenient.
Ms. Tong Thi To Nhu - President of the Farmers' Association of Ward 1, Bao Loc City (Lam Dong Province) said that Mr. Ngo Van Tu is a farmer who is highly appreciated for his creativity.
His two machines, including the soil ball machine and the shuttle seeding machine 07, were awarded the Second Prize in the Bao Loc City Science and Technology Innovation Contest in 2016 as well as the Lam Dong Farmers' Association awarded the Second Prize in the Provincial Farmers' Technology Innovation Contest in the same year.
Currently, the family of Mr. and Mrs. Ngo Van Tu - Khuc Thi Le are progressive farmers, both manufacturing machines and producing quality vegetable seedlings. They are typical, creative and good farmers - good producers, and legitimately enriching themselves.
