Organic agricultural products easily meet the criteria for OCOP products.

Among the 240 OCOP-certified products in Tuyen Quang province, 39 achieved 4 stars. These OCOP-certified products, especially those with 4 stars, are increasingly establishing their position in the market.

According to Mr. Le Hai Nam, Head of the Rural Development Sub-Department of Tuyen Quang province, when agricultural products are recognized as OCOP products, they meet several Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) standards. Therefore, these products are not only sold in traditional markets but also easily access reputable shopping malls, supermarkets, and e-commerce platforms. Many OCOP products have organically grown raw material areas and are assigned planting area codes, making export to demanding markets easier.

The Shan Tuyet tea product (1 bud, 1 leaf) from Son Tra Cooperative (Hong Thai commune, Na Hang district) has just been recommended by the Tuyen Quang Provincial OCOP Product Evaluation and Classification Council to the Provincial People's Committee for submission to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for evaluation, classification, and recognition as a 5-star OCOP product.

To achieve this result, over the years, Son Tra Cooperative has invested in expanding the scale of its raw material area and processing infrastructure. The cooperative has expanded its linkages and purchased raw tea from tea-growing households in Hong Thai, Sinh Long, and Son Phu communes (Na Hang district) with a total area of ​​over 130 hectares. Of this, 21 hectares of raw tea have been certified organic by the TQC Quality Testing and Certification Center, yielding approximately 63 tons per year and receiving a tea growing area code that qualifies them for export to the European market.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Pho, Director of Son Tra Cooperative, said that the ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees are a valuable asset of the Mong and Dao people in the villages of Na Hang district. In recent years, along with the development and expansion of the transportation system and the development of the market economy , the Shan Tuyet tea of ​​the Cooperative has gradually become a marketable product, a flavorful beverage known in the domestic market.

To enhance the brand image of its products, the Cooperative has built a processing facility and received ISO 22000:2018 certification from the Institute for Research and Development of Quality Standards (issued on January 14, 2022) for its Food Safety Management System for Tea Processing and Trading. Currently, the Cooperative has 3 OCOP products, including 1 product with 3 stars, 1 product with 4 stars, and 1 product in the process of upgrading to 5 stars.

Among the OCOP-awarded products of Tuyen Quang province, there are more than 20 culinary specialties. Notable examples include Da Vi dried vermicelli (Na Hang district) which achieved 3 stars; Tien Quang dried buffalo meat (Chiem Hoa district) which achieved 3 stars; Chiem Hoa sticky rice cake which achieved 4 stars; and Vuong Duy black sour pork (Lam Binh district) which achieved 3 stars…

Chiêm Hóa sticky rice cake from Đồng Lộc Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative is a 4-star OCOP product of Tuyên Quang province. This product was recently re-certified as a 4-star OCOP product by the Tuyên Quang Provincial OCOP Product Classification Council. To maintain its OCOP rating, the Cooperative has invested in and standardized its production management, and has received certification from the TQC CGLOBAL Testing and Certification Center for a food safety management system compliant with ISO 22000:2018 standards; and a certificate for a hazard analysis and critical control system compliant with HACCP Codex Alimentarius standards.

According to Ms. Hoang Thi Thao, Director of Dong Loc Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative, to make delicious cakes, the people choose glutinous rice of the "golden flower" variety, along with thorny leaves, pork, and mung bean filling, wrapped in dried banana leaves using traditional methods, creating the fragrant and distinctive quality of the Chiêm Hóa countryside.

On average, the cooperative produces and sells over 120,000 pairs of sticky rice cakes annually at a price of 10,000 VND per pair. Members of the cooperative are continuously improving the design and quality to better meet consumer needs.

Consuming safe agricultural products and food is a trend many consumers are moving towards. To meet market demand, OCOP-certified agricultural products from Tuyen Quang province are constantly improving in quality and design. Localities are also continuing to implement effective production linkage models connecting farmers with cooperatives, businesses, and scientists, thereby upgrading the OCOP rating of their products.
