Of the 240 products recognized as OCOP star products of Tuyen Quang province, 39 products achieved 4 stars. OCOP star products, especially 4-star products, are increasingly affirming their position in the market.
Mr. Le Hai Nam, Head of the Department of Rural Development of Tuyen Quang province, said that when being recognized as having achieved the OCOP star, agricultural products have achieved a number of good agricultural standards (GAP). Therefore, these products are not only sold in traditional markets but also easily available in reputable shopping centers, supermarkets and e-commerce platforms. Many OCOP products have raw material areas that meet organic standards and are assigned growing area codes, so exporting to demanding markets is also easier.
The Shan Tuyet tea product with 1 bud and 1 leaf of Son Tra Cooperative (Hong Thai commune, Na Hang district) has just been evaluated and classified by the Council for products participating in the OCOP program of Tuyen Quang province, requesting the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for evaluation, classification, and recognition of the product as achieving 5-star OCOP status.
To achieve this result, in recent years, Son Tra Cooperative has invested in expanding the scale of raw material areas and processing infrastructure. The Cooperative has expanded its links and purchased raw tea from tea growers in Hong Thai, Sinh Long, and Son Phu communes (Na Hang district) with a total area of over 130 hectares. Of which, 21 hectares of raw tea have been granted organic certificates by the TQC Quality Testing and Certification Center, with an output of about 63 tons/year, and have been granted a tea growing area code that is eligible for export to the European market.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Pho, Director of Son Tra Cooperative, said that ancient Shan Tuyet tea is a valuable asset of the Mong and Dao people in the villages of Na Hang district. In recent years, along with the development and expansion of the transportation system and the development of the market economy, Shan Tuyet tea of the Cooperative has gradually become a commodity product, a rich-flavored beverage known in the domestic market.
To enhance the product brand, the Cooperative has built a processing facility and has been granted ISO 22000: 2018 Certificate (issued on January 14, 2022) by the Institute for Research and Development of Quality Standards on the Food Safety Management System for Tea Processing and Trading. Currently, the Cooperative has 3 OCOP products, of which 1 product has achieved 3 stars, 1 product has achieved 4 stars and 1 product is being upgraded to 5 stars.
Among the OCOP star-winning products of Tuyen Quang province, there are more than 20 culinary specialties. Typical products include Da Vi dried vermicelli (Na Hang district) which achieved 3 stars; Tien Quang dried buffalo meat (Chiem Hoa district) which achieved 3 stars; Chiem Hoa sticky rice cake which achieved 4 stars; Vuong Duy black sour pork (Lam Binh district) which achieved 3 stars...

Chiem Hoa sticky rice cake of Dong Loc Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative is a 4-star OCOP product of Tuyen Quang province. This product has just been recognized by the OCOP Product Classification Council of Tuyen Quang province as meeting the 4-star standard. To maintain the OCOP star, the Cooperative has invested in and standardized production management and has been granted a certificate by TQC CGLOBAL Testing and Certification Center for food safety management system in accordance with ISO.22000:2018; a certificate for a hazard analysis and critical control system in accordance with HACCP Codex Alimentarius standard.
Ms. Hoang Thi Thao, Director of Dong Loc Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative, said that to make delicious cakes, the rice chosen by the people is yellow sticky rice, gai leaves, pork and green bean filling, wrapped in dried banana leaves according to traditional methods, creating the delicious and characteristic quality of the Chiem Hoa countryside.
On average, each year the Cooperative produces and sells over 120,000 pairs of gai cakes at a selling price of 10,000 VND/pair. Members of the Cooperative are constantly improving designs and quality to better meet consumer needs.
Consumption of safe agricultural products and food is a trend that many consumers are aiming for. To meet market demand, agricultural products with OCOP stars of Tuyen Quang province are constantly improving in quality and design. Localities also continue to implement effective production linkage models associated with product consumption between farmers and cooperatives, businesses, and scientists, raising the OCOP star for products.
