During a visit to the Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) plant in February, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the T-90M Proryv was "the best tank in the world".

The tank's defenses have been upgraded with sophisticated multi-layer composite armor and Reklit explosive reactive armor panels on the front and sides. The T-90M Proryv has an advanced electronics suite with panoramic sights, thermal imaging sights, and encrypted digital communications.

The T-90M Proryv is approximately 9.63m long, 3.78m wide and 2.22m high. Its compact size makes it effective in various combat situations. Its engine has been upgraded, increasing its maneuverability and range.

The vehicle's fire control system is state-of-the-art, incorporating the Kalina integrated fire control system, which includes a multi-channel sight, thermal imager, laser rangefinder and ballistic computer. These components are interconnected to provide precise targeting, even in difficult conditions.

The main gun of the T-90M Proryv tank is a 125mm 2A46M-5 smoothbore gun, which can fire a variety of ammunition, including armor-piercing, anti-tank, high-explosive, and anti-fortification and obstacle-destroying rounds. This variety of ammunition ensures that the tank can effectively engage a variety of targets.

The automatic gun loading system allows for high rate of fire and reduces the crew's workload.
In addition to the main gun, the vehicle is equipped with secondary weapons to enhance combat effectiveness. These include a 7.62mm PKTM machine gun mounted coaxially with the main gun and a 12.7mm Kord heavy machine gun mounted on the roof. These secondary weapons provide additional firepower against infantry, light vehicles and low-flying aircraft.

The T-90M Proryv-3 is the most modern version of the current T-90M Proryv tank line, in the context that the new generation T-14 Armata line has not yet been widely deployed in the Russian army.
