After more than 4 months of implementing the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses; by the end of April 11, 2025, the whole province had started construction on 3,421/4,400 houses, reaching 77.8% of the plan and completed 2,068 houses. There are 2/9 districts and cities that have completed 100% of the project's target, including: Ngoc Hien district 240 houses and Ca Mau city 112 houses. Besides, some units have high completion rates such as: Dam Doi reaching 98.4%; Tran Van Thoi reaching 95%; Cai Nuoc reaching 75.1%; Thoi Binh reaching 73.7%. The total implementation cost is 222 billion 744 million VND, disbursed 166 billion 763 million VND, reaching 74.87%; of which, the cost to support houses for people with revolutionary contributions is 20 billion 651 million VND; Housing for poor and near-poor households is 178 billion 445 million VND; housing under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas is 23 billion 648 million VND.

In addition, with the spirit of "whoever has something to contribute, whoever has meritorious services to contribute meritorious services, whoever has property to contribute property, whoever has a lot to contribute a lot, whoever has little to contribute a little", localities have established working groups, volunteer teams for hamlets and villages, in which specific union members and youths are assigned to actively contribute working days. As a result, there were about 95 volunteer teams, with more than 2,382 participants contributing over 2,894 working days, estimated to be converted into about 843 million VND, through practical work such as: dismantling houses, building foundations, transporting materials, moving household items, roofing, and connecting electricity lines.

In addition to the support fund of 60 million VND/new house, 30 million VND/repaired house, the province has directed localities to review the total of 4,400 houses supported by the project, there are 3,124 houses that do not have hygienic toilets and have mobilized social resources to support an additional 5 million VND/house.

Of the 272 households without land, local authorities have visited each household to mobilize relatives to lend them land to build houses. There are solutions, such as arranging resettlement areas or public land funds... The difficulty is that there are currently 17 households without land. Local authorities continue to mobilize relatives to lend them land to build houses and mobilize them to move to resettlement areas if all conditions are met in the near future.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Thanh Ngai awarded certificates of merit to 19 collectives with outstanding achievements in the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.

Currently, localities are speeding up the implementation of the program, striving to complete the construction and repair of houses for people with revolutionary contributions, martyrs' relatives, and households under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority Areas by April 30, 2025; and by June 30, 2025, basically complete 4,400 temporary and dilapidated houses for eligible subjects.

Secretary of Ca Mau City Party Committee Tran Hong Quan presented 8 houses to 8 districts in the province, each worth 60 million VND.

Speaking at the conference, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai directed that sectors and localities continue to promote propaganda work on the purpose, meaning and humane values ​​of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for people with revolutionary contributions, poor households, near-poor households and ethnic minority households in the province to arouse the spirit and responsibility in the whole society. Newspapers and radio stations continue to develop reportage programs, special topics, special pages, columns, news pages and news points to promptly disseminate and introduce good and effective practices.

According to the Provincial Party Secretary, in order to achieve positive initial results in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, over the past time, leaders of Party committees and local authorities in the province have paid attention to directing strongly, with a high spirit of determination and responsibility, contributing to joining hands with the whole country to gradually complete the goals according to the direction of the Prime Minister.

This shows that our spirit of solidarity and mutual love has been highly promoted,” comrade Nguyen Ho Hai assessed.

In the coming time, the Provincial Party Secretary noted that in the spirit of mutual love and support, not leaving anyone behind, the Front and the provincial government need to study how to help people find jobs, have a stable life, and not fall back into poverty after eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses and helping people settle down.
