The Ministry of Education and Training issued Decision No. 2045/QD-BGDDT stipulating the time plan framework for the 2024-2025 school year for preschool education, general education and continuing education.

Accordingly, the 2024 - 2025 school year time plan framework applied nationwide is as follows:

School starts at least 1 week before the opening day. For grade 1, school starts at least 2 weeks before the opening day.

Opening ceremony on September 5, 2024.

Finish semester I before January 18, 2025, complete the program and end the school year before May 31, 2025.

Consider recognition of completion of primary school program and consider recognition of graduation from secondary school before June 30, 2025.

Complete enrollment for first grade classes before July 31, 2025.

The 2025 high school graduation exam is scheduled to take place on June 26 and 27.

Other national exams are organized according to regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Regarding the principles of building the local school year schedule, the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates: The local school year schedule must ensure 35 weeks of actual study (semester I has 18 weeks, semester II has 17 weeks). The school year schedule must be suitable to the characteristics and practical conditions of the locality.

Holidays and Tet holidays are implemented according to the provisions of the Labor Code and annual guidelines. Teachers' annual leave is implemented during the summer vacation or can be arranged alternately at other times of the year to suit the specific characteristics and school year schedule of the locality.

The school year schedule needs to ensure consistency for all levels of education in a residential area, especially in general schools with many levels of education.

Regarding the responsibility for implementation, the Chairman of the People's Committee of the province or centrally-run city decides: The school year schedule for preschool education, general education and continuing education is suitable to the local reality. The time to start school early and the extension of the school year must not exceed 15 days to ensure the implementation and completion of the preschool education, general education and continuing education program in case of natural disasters and epidemics; for special cases arising, report to the Ministry of Education and Training before implementation.

The Director of the Department of Education and Training decides to let students take time off from school in case of extreme weather, natural disasters and arrange make-up classes; ensure teachers' time off during the school year. Report to the Ministry of Education and Training on: The situation of preparing for the school year and the situation of organizing the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year before September 10, 2024; Summarize the implementation of tasks, key solutions for the 2024-2025 school year and the results of implementing emulation criteria, propose consideration of rewards for the school year before June 25, 2025.
