According to the 2024-2025 school year schedule just issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, the new school year opening date will be held on September 5 as every year.

The earliest time students return to school is one week before the opening day.

For grade 1, students will return to school at least 2 weeks before the opening day. Semester 1 ends before January 18, 2025, completing the program and ending the school year before May 31, 2025.

Consider recognition of completion of primary school program and consider recognition of secondary school graduation before June 30, 2025. Complete enrollment of first grade classes before July 31, 2025.

The 2025 high school graduation exam is scheduled to take place on June 26 and 27, 2025, one day earlier than this year.

Other national exams are organized according to regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, localities shall base on the above school year plan framework to develop their own plans, suitable to the characteristics of each region, so that the local school year plan must ensure 35 weeks of actual study (semester I has 18 weeks, semester II has 17 weeks).

Holidays are implemented according to the provisions of the Labor Code and annual guidelines.

Specifically, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have a holiday for National Day this year from Saturday (August 31) to Tuesday (September 3).

This holiday includes 2 days off for National Day and 2 days off every week. Thus, civil servants and public employees of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have a maximum of 4 days off according to the above content.

Agencies and units that do not have a fixed Saturday and Sunday holiday schedule every week will arrange a suitable holiday schedule based on the specific program and plan of the unit.

For employees, employers decide to choose the National Day holiday as Monday (September 2) and choose 1 of 2 days: Sunday (September 1) or Tuesday (September 3).

For employees with 1 day off/week falling on Sunday, the National Day holiday on September 2nd will last 3 days from September 1st to September 3rd if they choose to have the holiday on Sunday (September 1st) or last 2 days from September 2nd to September 3rd if they choose to have the holiday on Tuesday, September 3rd.

For employees with 2 days off per week falling on Saturday and Sunday, the National Day holiday on September 2 will last 4 days from August 31 to September 3.

Civil servants, public employees and workers will have a maximum of 4 consecutive days off for National Day, September 2.

Thus, according to regulations, the National Day holiday on September 2 this year for students lasts 4 days for preschool and primary school levels and 3 days for secondary school and above.
