According to the 2024-2025 school year timetable recently issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, the opening ceremony for the new school year will be held on September 5th, as in previous years.
The earliest time students can return to school is one week before the official opening ceremony.
For first grade specifically, students will start school at least two weeks before the official opening ceremony. The first semester will end before January 18, 2025, completing the curriculum and concluding the school year before May 31, 2025.
The process of certifying completion of the primary school program and granting junior high school graduation certificates will be completed before June 30, 2025. Enrollment for the first-year classes will be completed before July 31, 2025.

Other national-level examinations are organized according to the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, localities should base their own plans on the above school year framework, tailored to the characteristics of each region, ensuring that the local school year schedule guarantees 35 weeks of actual learning (18 weeks in the first semester and 17 weeks in the second semester).
Public holidays are observed in accordance with the Labor Code and annual guiding documents.
Specifically, according to the announcement from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs , officials, civil servants, and employees of administrative agencies, public service organizations, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have a National Day holiday this year from Saturday (August 31st) to Tuesday (September 3rd).
This holiday period includes two days off for National Day and two days off for the weekend. Therefore, civil servants and employees of administrative agencies, public service organizations, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have a maximum of four days off as described above.
Agencies and units that do not follow a fixed Saturday and Sunday weekly holiday schedule will base their holiday arrangements on their specific programs and plans.
For employees, employers decide whether to choose Monday (September 2nd) as the National Day holiday and whether to choose one of two days: Sunday (September 1st) or Tuesday (September 3rd).
For employees whose one-day-a-week rest falls on a Sunday, the National Day holiday on September 2nd will last 3 days, from September 1st to 3rd, if they choose to take the day off on Sunday (September 1st), or 2 days, from September 2nd to 3rd, if they choose to take the day off on Tuesday (September 3rd).
For employees whose work week falls on Saturday and Sunday, the National Day holiday on September 2nd will last for 4 days, from August 31st to September 3rd.
Civil servants, public employees, and workers will have a maximum of four consecutive days off for the National Day holiday on September 2nd.
Therefore, according to regulations, this year's National Day holiday on September 2nd for students will last 4 days for preschool and primary school levels, and 3 days for secondary school level and above.
