According to VNA correspondent in Washington, the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) on April 24 announced a phone call between US Trade Representative Jamieson L. Greer and Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien.

The announcement said that on April 23, US Trade Representative Jamieson L. Greer had a productive online meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien to discuss bilateral trade relations between the US and Vietnam.

Ambassador Greer discussed the next steps between USTR and the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade following the phone call between President Donald Trump and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam on April 4.

The two sides agreed on the importance of making rapid progress toward balanced and reciprocal trade relations between the United States and Vietnam.

The Ministers instructed technical teams of the two sides to conduct technical discussions in the coming days to discuss efforts to expand market access and address unfair trade practices./.
