Recently, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , the leader of the Phu Quoc International Airport - Border Gate Police (Immigration Management Department, A08, Ministry of Public Security) said that by mid-April 2025, among international visitors to Phu Quoc, Korean visitors will be leading.

The total number of Korean visitors entering the country is about 480,000 people.

"Every day, international visitors to Phu Quoc arrive on about 8-10 flights out of a total of 20 flights. Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of Korean visitors to Phu Quoc only reached 233,000, an increase of more than 100%," he informed.

On the occasion of April 30 and May 1 this year, the leader of the Phu Quoc International Airport and Border Gate Police predicted that Korean tourists will continue to explode in Phu Quoc and still lead the list, while the remaining international tourists will be stable without any sudden changes.

On April 27, explaining the "fascinating" attraction of Phu Quoc to international visitors from the land of kimchi, Ms. Tran Thi Bao Thu, representative of Vietluxtour, said that the market share of Korean visitors at Vietluxtour is the leading among the company's Asian tourist markets. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, this market has had a fairly good recovery and growth rate, especially the Phu Quoc route.

"The common point of tourists when choosing Phu Quoc is because they love sea tourism and diverse tourism, culinary, and entertainment complexes but the service prices are cheaper than some other famous tourist islands in Southeast Asia.

In addition, Phu Quoc has many experiences for guests from professional services, especially serving Korean tourists such as supermarkets, spas, restaurants... while still being able to leisurely explore local culture and relax at Phu Quoc's famous beautiful beaches," said Ms. Thu.

According to Ms. Thu, there are many positive feedbacks about Phu Quoc from customers. At Vietluxtour, Korean customers are one of the customer markets with a fairly good return rate.

Therefore, to exploit this market share more effectively, according to Ms. Thu, businesses and travel agencies need to continuously innovate products to increase the visiting time, spending and staying time... of Korean tourists, not only in Phu Quoc but also in other destinations such as Hoi An and Da Nang, which are also popular with tourists from this market.

Korean tourists ranked 2nd after China in choosing to travel to Vietnam

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, among the 10 largest markets for Vietnamese tourism in the first quarter of 2025, China ranked first, and South Korea ranked second with 1.26 million visitors. These two markets contributed 47% of the total number of visitors to Vietnam.

In terms of growth momentum, in the first 3 months of 2025, the market for sending Korean guests increased by 2.2% compared to the same period in 2024.

According to the Department of Tourism of Kien Giang province, in the first quarter of 2025, Phu Quoc is estimated to welcome over 2 million tourists, an increase of 66.5%; revenue from tourism activities will reach over 10.5 billion VND.

With positive signals in the first month of the year, Phu Quoc expects to reach and exceed the target of 7 million visitors in 2025.
