Intel announced it will extend the warranty period by two years for its 13th and 14th generation Core chips due to instability issues with these processor generations.
Intel has announced a two-year warranty extension for its 13th and 14th generation Intel Core chips. This decision comes after a series of crashes and instability issues that have affected these chips recently. The problems impacted all 65W and higher-powered chips, from high-end to mid-range models.

Typically, Intel processors come with a 3-year warranty. The new policy has now extended the warranty period to 5 years for the affected CPUs.
In addition, Intel is also deploying a patch to fix a bug they believe is caused by a microcode algorithm that leads to voltage spikes, resulting in unstable operation of Intel Core 13 and 14 chips.
However, these patches will not fix any damage that has already occurred to the processor, meaning the best course of action is for users to return the chip for replacement.
"Intel is committed to ensuring that all customers who have experienced or are experiencing instability issues with 13th and 14th generation Core desktop processors receive support during the return and exchange process," reads a statement from Intel's Thomas Hannaford to The Verge.
The company also encourages users who own desktop computers with 13th and 14th generation Intel Core processors and are experiencing instability issues to contact customer support for further assistance.
In addition, Intel has confirmed that the 13th generation Core CPUs are experiencing oxidation issues, but stated that this defect only affects a small percentage of chips and is not related to instability.
Intel stated that the cause of the oxidation issue has been resolved through adjustments in the manufacturing process.
