- On the morning of April 29, the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Chi Lang district organized a meeting with outstanding veterans and former youth volunteers to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
Attending the meeting were leaders of the Provincial Veterans Association, leaders of the District Party Committee, People's Council, District People's Committee and outstanding veterans and former youth volunteers in the district.
At the meeting, delegates reviewed the glorious journey of the nation and the significance of the historic victory in the spring of 1975 through documentary films.
During those heroic years, 1,906 young people of Chi Lang district went to the South to fight and 393 cadres, soldiers and young people heroically sacrificed their lives. In the rear, the army and people of the district both worked and produced, ensuring smooth traffic while fighting and bombing American planes. Specifically, the army and people of the district coordinated with main units to shoot down many American planes, kill 4 pilots, and capture 5 enemies. Typically, on November 17, 1965, the Quang Lang commune female militia platoon was on duty, coordinated with air defense units to fight, and shot down an American jet plane on the spot. When peace was restored, the veterans and former youth volunteers promoted the tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" to continue to actively contribute to the work of building the Party, the political system, developing the economy - society, and maintaining security and order in the area.
During the program, delegates also listened to veterans - historical witnesses - share profound memories, memorable events, and touching stories about the years of resistance against the US, full of hardship, hardship but extremely heroic of our army and people.
On this occasion, the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Chi Lang district presented gifts to express gratitude to outstanding veterans and former youth volunteers in the area.
