The "Reunification Train" officially rolled out at Hanoi Station on the evening of April 29.

With the desire to spread national pride, the spirit of solidarity, creativity and innovation of the country and Vietnamese enterprises, on the evening of April 29, Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) organized the running of a pair of trains named "Reunification Train" on the occasion of April 30 - May 1 this year, towards the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and reunification of the country.

When the ticket office door opened the barrier to welcome passengers on board, many passengers were wearing red shirts with yellow stars and national flags on their cheeks. Everyone expressed their joy and excitement at experiencing the train connecting the North and South during the historic days when the country was united.

At exactly 20:55, the train whistle sounded loudly signaling the train was ready to roll. Below the platform, leaders of the Ministry of Construction, officers, employees, and workers of VNR sang the songs: "As if Uncle Ho were here on the day of great victory", "Your train passes through the mountains" and waved goodbye to passengers on a meaningful journey.

According to Mr. Hoang Gia Khanh, General Director of VNR, we are living in the heroic atmosphere of the historic April days - 50 years of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). The half-century of North-South reunion is a triumphant journey from victory to revival and the aspiration for peace and independence of that Spring is present in the luggage entering the era of national growth.

“Since when, for every Vietnamese person, the image of the Reunification train connecting the North and South has become a symbol of peace, of the aspiration for national independence and the joy of victory and family reunion. The train traveling in peace, connecting the two banks of longing has always been a burning desire that our fathers and grandfathers had to shed so much blood to regain,” Mr. Khanh emphasized.

VNR also expressed hope that each passenger on this train will be a happy passenger, to further appreciate the value of independence and freedom, to be more proud of the Lac Hong bloodline and to love their homeland and country more.

VNR leaders added that tonight, train SE1 will depart from Hanoi station and SE4 from Saigon station. The two trains will meet at 12 noon on April 30 at Da Nang station. This is not just a normal train trip but a journey to look back at history, helping us understand and appreciate the value of peace today.

Every passenger on this train will be a happy passenger, to add to the precious value of independence and freedom.

On this occasion, the Railway industry will reduce 40% of ticket prices for those who have contributed to the revolution, including war invalids, sick soldiers, veterans, relatives of those who have contributed to the revolution... The program applies to passengers who buy train tickets between April 24 and May 9. Tickets will be sold directly at railway stations, passengers in the above categories must bring confirmation documents when buying tickets and when boarding the train.

Especially from now until the end of the holiday, when buying train tickets, passengers will have the opportunity to join the Railway industry to create the Reunification Train in cyberspace. Each successfully purchased ticket will be a red flag with a yellow star displayed on the ticketing system. Let's fill the train cars with the colors of the national flag, to recreate the Reunification Train in modern times, turning each trip into a journey of solidarity and national pride.
