International Conference 'The Role and Contribution of the UNESCO Movement to the Cultural Industries'

On the morning of August 5, the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations was honored to host the 43rd Conference of the Executive Board of the World Federation of UNESCO Associations and the International Conference "The Role and Contribution of the UNESCO Movement to the Cultural Industry" in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province.

The conference was attended by Diplomat and journalist Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations, ex-officio member of the Executive Committee of the World Federation of UNESCO Associations; Mr. Bolat Akchulakov, President of the World Federation of UNESCO Associations, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Former Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan; Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Ms. Assel Utegenova - representative of the Africa and External Relations Department of UNESCO; Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Head of the Delegation Affairs Department of the National Assembly Standing Committee, National Assembly Delegate of the 15th tenure; Mr. Vu Minh Dao, Director of the Department of Culture and Education under the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education; Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, National Assembly Delegate of Bac Ninh province, member of the Committee on Culture and Education... Along with many delegates representing leaders of Central and local Committees, Ministries, branches.

Mr. Bolat Akchulakov, President of the World UNESCO Federation, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Former Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan spoke at the event.

The International Conference “The Role and Contribution of the UNESCO Movement to the Cultural Industry” is an important event in the economic and cultural fields in general, creating opportunities for leaders, experts, businesses and individuals in the country as well as in the world to connect, meet, exchange ideas, share experiences, and propose solutions to build corporate culture and develop the cultural industry in Vietnam. At the Executive Committee meeting, WFUCA member countries reported, summarized, and evaluated implementation activities in the period of 2023-2024; approved, amended, and supplemented the Charter of the World Federation of UNESCO Associations; electing leadership positions for the new term and discussing a number of issues related to the preparation for the 44th Conference. A notable highlight of this year's Conference was the delegates sharing experiences and discussing the role of cultural industries and the creative economy in promoting economic growth, creating livelihoods and preserving cultural heritage.

The conference was attended by Diplomat and journalist Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations, ex-officio member of the Executive Committee of the World Federation of UNESCO Associations.

At the end of the conference, member countries issued the Ha Long Declaration on "Creative Economy - Connecting Culture for Peace and Sustainable Development". The Declaration commits to promoting economic models on the basis of equity and sustainability, improving the quality of life of all community members; supporting economic policies that are environmentally and socially friendly, ensuring that development does not harm future generations; protecting and preserving cultural heritage, promoting initiatives to turn these heritages into assets serving the development and increasing happiness of humanity; respecting and encouraging cultural diversity, considering understanding and respect between cultures as a premise for peace and prosperity. The year 2024 also marks a decade since the Party Central Committee issued Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the 9th Central Conference, 11th tenure on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development. From the above resolution, the cultural industry is not only a resource that creates economic value, contributing to the dissemination of a country's cultural heritage, but also plays an important role in the agenda and activities of the UNESCO Movement worldwide. Through its programs and projects, the UNESCO Movement creates understanding and respect among countries, ensures sustainable development and transmits cultural values ​​to the future.

Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association spoke at the conference.

The international conference "Role and contribution of the UNESCO movement to the cultural industry" aims to evaluate the achievements and contributions of the UNESCO movement in promoting and developing the cultural industry in recent years, reaffirm the role and persistent efforts of the UNESCO movement network after decades of tirelessly promoting the development of culture, and encourage and call on UNESCO associations and clubs around the world to further increase their participation in shaping the future of the cultural industry. Also at the event, the Cultural Values ​​Council of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations awarded certificates of merit and recognition to individuals and organizations with many contributions to the UNESCO movement, promoting the values ​​of cultural heritage in their fields of operation. Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Head of the Delegation Work Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee, 15th National Assembly Delegate, spoke.

The opportunity to learn and share experiences among organizations and businesses is recognized by the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations as the key to enhancing connectivity in the context of Vietnam's cultural industry undergoing a period of strong development; with the diversity of products and services, the development of human resources, support from the government and organizations, the development of technology, communication, as well as increased cooperation and connectivity in related fields. By cooperating and connecting with each other, individuals and businesses can enhance their strength and potential in the cultural industry, share resources, experience and knowledge to create opportunities as well as face challenges more effectively. The conference is expected to contribute positive and meaningful actions in building the future of the cultural industry in Vietnam, reaffirming the role and persistent efforts of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations after decades of tireless contributions, promoting the development of the cultural industry, creating a favorable environment for international cooperation, especially affirming the role of the country in protecting and promoting human cultural values.
