Professor, Dr. Ahn Kyong-Hwan (Korea): Vietnamese people are confident that "I can do it"

These days, as Vietnam celebrates the 50th anniversary of national reunification, the Vietnamese people are filled with pride and joy. And it is filled with the confidence that “I can do it”. The Vietnamese people are a nation that deserves independence, freedom and happiness. Because they are the ones who understand the true value of independence, freedom and happiness. I hope that, with the solidarity of all the people towards the 50th anniversary of national reunification, Vietnam will quickly rise to become an advanced country.

In the context of Vietnam's development, with the ideology of President Ho Chi Minh as the foundation and the consensus and solidarity of the people of the whole country, Vietnam can completely become a developed country by 2045 as the set goal.

2025 is a historic year in Vietnam, marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification, and the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth. To celebrate and commemorate this event, we are preparing a ceramic exhibition commemorating the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth in Seoul in July together with KOVECA. We are also planning a special lecture introducing President Ho Chi Minh. This will be an important event to introduce Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh to the Korean people.
I have loved Vietnam since I was a high school student. At that time, in school, we learned about Vietnam through some films and some photos. In 1989, the first time I came to Vietnam, I went to an old bookstore in Da Kao market, Ho Chi Minh City to buy books to help me learn Vietnamese. Here, I bought the poetry collection "Prison Diary" by President Ho Chi Minh and "The Tale of Kieu" by Nguyen Du. Stemming from my love for the country and people of Vietnam, for nearly 4 decades, regardless of my position, I still cherish the desire to continue translating many other typical Vietnamese literary works, especially the poetry and literature of famous cultural figures from Vietnamese into Korean. Through that, I can convey more literature and the cultural beauty of the country and people of Vietnam to the Korean people. The more I understand about Vietnam, the more I want to know. I am currently preparing to translate Tran Quoc Tuan's "Proclamation to Soldiers" from Vietnamese into Korean and will soon introduce it to the Korean public.
