On the afternoon of August 8th, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade jointly announced a change in retail gasoline and diesel prices. The changes took effect from 3 PM on the same day.
Accordingly, the regulatory agency decided to reduce the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline by 900 VND/liter and RON 95 gasoline by 930 VND/liter. After the adjustment, the maximum retail price for E5 RON 92 gasoline is 20,710 VND/liter and for RON 95 gasoline is 21,670 VND/liter.
Similarly, oil prices continued to be adjusted downwards in today's price adjustment. Specifically, diesel prices decreased by 730 VND/liter to 19,140 VND/liter; kerosene prices decreased by 680 VND/liter to 19,410 VND/liter. Mazut also decreased by 860 VND/kg to 16,020 VND/kg. During this adjustment period, the inter-ministerial committee maintained its policy of not allocating or disbursing funds from the Price Stabilization Fund.
Thus, domestic gasoline prices have seen their fifth consecutive day of decline. Since the beginning of the year, gasoline prices have increased 16 times and decreased 16 times; diesel prices have increased 15 times and decreased 15 times.
Currently, the fuel price stabilization fund of several key enterprises still shows a large positive balance because the fund has not been used in many recent price adjustments. Specifically, as of August 8th, Petrolimex recorded a positive fund of 3,078 billion VND; PV Oil had a negative fund of over 138 billion VND; Saigon Petro had a positive fund of 328 billion VND; and Petimex had a positive fund of 460 billion VND...
In the first half of this year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that it had issued decisions to inspect the maintenance of business conditions for petroleum products at 6 primary distributors and 8 distribution companies, and the inspections are currently underway.
In addition, after reviewing reports on maintaining business conditions, the Ministry directed the General Department of Market Management to inspect 4 key traders and 20 distribution traders suspected of violations, in order to consider handling them according to regulations.
