At retail markets, rice prices have not been adjusted for individual rice products. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price of VND30,000/kg; Jasmine rice is VND18,000 - 20,000/kg; Nang Hoa rice is VND20,000/kg; regular rice fluctuates around VND15,000 - 16,000/kg; long-grain fragrant rice is VND20,000 - 21,000/kg; Huong Jasmine rice is VND20,000/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice is VND21,000/kg; common white rice is VND17,000/kg; regular Soc rice is VND18,500/kg; Thai Soc rice is VND20,000/kg; Japanese rice is VND22,000/kg.

Regarding rice, it is noted that in localities, farmers have limited supply, high prices, and slow demand.

In Kien Giang, transactions are stable, prices tend to increase. In An Giang, the supply of unstakeable Summer-Autumn rice is still low, farmers offer slightly higher prices. In Soc Trang, farmers offer high prices, the buying trend slows down.

Specifically, according to the update from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, today's rice price recorded an adjustment compared to yesterday, IR 50404 price fluctuated around 7,400 - 7,600 VND/kg, an increase of 300 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice price was at 7,800 - 8,300 VND/kg, an increase of 400 - 700 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice price was at 7,800 - 8,100 VND/kg, an increase of 800 - 900 VND/kg; OM 18 rice price was at 8,000 - 8,300 VND/kg, an increase of 350 - 500 VND/kg; OM 380 fluctuated from 6,800 - 7,100 VND/kg; Japanese rice is at 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 is 6,900 - 7,000 VND/kg, and Nang Nhen rice (dry) is at 20,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, the glutinous rice market recorded no adjustment compared to yesterday. IR 4625 glutinous rice (fresh) 7,500 - 7,800 VND/kg, stable compared to yesterday. Long An glutinous rice (fresh) 7,400 - 7,600 VND/kg. An Giang glutinous rice (fresh) 7,000 - 7,200 VND/kg, unchanged compared to yesterday.

Regarding rice, rice prices recorded an adjustment compared to yesterday. Specifically, IR 504 summer-autumn raw rice was kept at 11,600 - 11,700 VND/kg, an increase of 50 VND/kg; IR 504 finished rice remained stable at 13,600 - 13,700 VND/kg.

By-products today recorded an adjustment compared to yesterday. Currently, the price of OM 5451 broken rice remains at 9,400 - 9,500 VND/kg; the price of dry bran remains stable at 7,250 - 7,350 VND/kg.

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices recorded an adjustment compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 100% broken rice was at 440 USD/ton, up 5 USD; 5% broken standard rice remained at 570 USD/ton, up 8 USD; 25% broken rice was at 536 USD/ton, up 7 USD.

According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of Soc Trang province, in the 2024 Summer-Autumn rice crop, the whole Soc Trang province sowed 140,436 hectares, exceeding the production plan by 0.8%; Soc Trang farmers mainly use key varieties such as: OM5451, OM18, OM34, Dai Thom 8, ST group...

As of July 31, according to the Department of Crop Production, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta have planted 1.465 million hectares of the 2024 Summer-Autumn crop out of 1.48 million hectares of planned area. The harvested area is about 730,000 hectares, with a yield of about 60 quintals/ha, the estimated output is 4.376 million tons of rice.

Along with the Summer-Autumn rice harvest, many localities have entered the production of Autumn-Winter rice and Summer-Autumn rice. In Tra Vinh, the Autumn-Winter crop began to be sown from August 5 to September 30, focusing on two main periods. The Summer-Autumn rice crop began to be sown from September 15 to October 15 in Chau Thanh and Tra Cu districts.

In line with the domestic market, traders said Vietnam’s 5% broken rice was offered at $565 a tonne, up from $560 a tonne a week ago. A trader in Ho Chi Minh City said demand from Philippine buyers was increasing, while exports to the Philippines and Indonesia had picked up in recent days.
