At the end of the trading session early this morning, April 29, the price of Arabica coffee jumped to 410.05 cents/lb, equivalent to 9,040 USD/ton, while the price of Robusta coffee was only 5,413 USD/ton, with the same delivery period in July 2025.
Specifically, on the New York - US floor, Arabica prices increased from 2.11% - 2.55% while on the London - UK floor, Robusta prices only increased and decreased by 2 USD/ton. However, this was also a pretty good closing session for Robusta when the whole session was covered in red, the biggest decrease was up to 95 USD/ton.
Robusta price ranges from 5,212 - 5,413 USD/ton, equivalent to 134,400 - 139,500 VND/kg.
Domestic coffee prices hover around VND130,600/kg, unchanged in recent days.
Commenting on the recent drop in Robusta prices, Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai, Chairman of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), said the main reason was that the US-China trade war was easing.

In addition, Robusta from Brazil and Indonesia is about to enter harvest season. However, the Chairman of VICOFA assessed that these two sources of supply are not worrisome because they mainly serve domestic needs and are not exported much.
Vietnam is nearly seven months into the 2024-2025 coffee crop, with output forecast at around 27 million bags, or 1.62 million tonnes, down 5% from the previous crop.
Mr. Thai Nhu Hiep, Vice President of VICOFA, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vinh Hiep Company Limited, commented that the price of Vietnamese Robusta coffee is cheaper when compared to Arabica. Meanwhile, the quality of Robusta has been improved and recognized by the world, and is being used in roasted coffee recipes with an increasingly high proportion.
With Robusta prices being much lower than Arabica, Vietnam’s main coffee has an advantage. Currently, when most coffee supplies to the US are subject to an additional 10% tax, Vietnam’s Robusta still has an advantage because Arabica is already expensive, and with the additional tax, it will become even more expensive.
