Sinh Ton Island belongs to Sinh Ton island commune, Truong Sa district, Khanh Hoa province. The island is 315 nautical miles from the mainland, about 15 nautical miles west of Sinh Ton Dong island. Not only does it have an important geographical position in protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands, Sinh Ton Island is also located in the solid defense system of Truong Sa archipelago. This is considered a "copper wall" protecting the sovereignty of the Fatherland in the East Sea.

Brigade 146 (Navy Region 4) said that during the general offensive and uprising campaign in the spring of 1975, Sinh Ton Island became part of the plan to liberate the Truong Sa archipelago. On March 29, 1975, Special Forces Team 1 of Group 126 was reinforced by 3 transport ships of Brigade 125 and some weapons and equipment under the direct command of comrade Mai Nang to liberate the Truong Sa archipelago. After Song Tu Tay, Son Ca and Nam Yet islands were liberated one after another, the enemy troops on Sinh Ton Island began to panic, then fled the island on the morning of April 27, 1975. Our forces then landed and took over the island smoothly. At exactly 10:30 a.m. on April 28, 1975, we completely controlled Sinh Ton Island.

Since the liberation day, generations of cadres, soldiers, army and people on the island have always been united, overcoming all difficulties and hardships, always being vigilant and ready to fight, and completing all assigned tasks well. After 50 years of construction, fighting and growing up, Sinh Ton Island has undergone a strong transformation. From an arid island lacking fresh water, electricity and trees, today Sinh Ton has taken on a new look: Greener, more beautiful and more solid. Thanks to the persistent care of many generations of cadres and soldiers, the island has been covered with green trees - the result symbolizing the perseverance and efforts to overcome difficulties of our army and people on the island. Currently, the island has ensured nearly 100% of its demand for green vegetables and a large part of its food. Solar power system, wind power, Viettel broadcasting station, cultural house, Sinh Ton pagoda, vegetable garden, residential and working areas... have been invested synchronously, serving well the life and the task of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of our army and people at the forefront. On the island, there is also a fishing logistics service station, with a dock area of ​​over 32,000 m², capable of accommodating hundreds of large-capacity fishing boats.

Thoroughly grasping the Party's resolutions and directives, especially the 13th Central Committee Resolution on "Homeland Protection Strategy in the New Situation", our army and people in Sinh Ton always maintain high combat readiness, successfully completing national defense tasks. At the same time, actively implementing the program "Vietnam Navy as a fulcrum for fishermen to go offshore", promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in conjunction with the campaign "Promoting tradition, dedicating talent, worthy of Uncle Ho's soldiers - Navy soldiers" in the new period. Focusing on building Sinh Ton island commune "Strong in defense, good in lifestyle, beautiful in landscape and environment, exemplary in military-civilian solidarity", worthy of the expectations of the army and people of the whole country. Every year, Sinh Ton Island has effectively supported fishermen to safely shelter from storms, provided free medical examinations, provided rescue and supplies to hundreds of fishermen in trouble at sea, and become a safe haven in the middle of the ocean.

With its great and lasting contributions, Sinh Ton Island has been awarded many noble prizes by the Party, the State and the Ministry of National Defense. In 1988, the island was honored to receive the Third Class Military Exploit Medal. In 2004, Sinh Ton Island was awarded the First Class Fatherland Protection Medal. Many collectives and individuals have also been awarded for their tireless dedication. Now, Sinh Ton Island is not only a place for Navy soldiers to "stick to" but also a miniature image of a modern Vietnam, knowing how to take advantage of the strength of the people, of technology, of national will to affirm sovereignty over the sea and islands.
