Stop the circulation and trace the origin of the alcoholic product suspected of causing poisoning.

The Hanoi Department of Health, in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, is investigating and preventing the use and distribution of the aforementioned alcoholic products within the city.

In coordination with the Department of Industry and Trade and other relevant agencies in the area, strengthen inspections, checks, and supervision of food safety at alcohol production and trading establishments, focusing on small-scale alcohol production and trading establishments, especially artisanal distilleries; promptly prevent the circulation of unsafe, unlabeled, or unregulated alcoholic beverages that pose a risk to consumer health.

Strengthen information, communication, and guidance to raise public awareness and responsibility for ensuring food safety in the production and sale of alcoholic beverages; avoid alcohol abuse and ensure safety when choosing and using alcohol; absolutely do not use strange or unknown species or origins of animals or plants to soak in alcohol for consumption; do not drink alcohol of unknown origin or without labels sold haphazardly on the market.

Hanoi: Administrative penalties imposed on 18 non-public medical and pharmaceutical establishments for violations related to food safety.

The Inspectorate of the Department of Health has issued 18 decisions imposing administrative penalties on 10 private medical and pharmaceutical establishments and 8 establishments in the field of food safety.

AS Pharma Joint Stock Company (address: No. 3, Gau Hamlet, Tan Phong 3 Village, Phong Van Commune, Ba Vi District) was fined 4 million VND for failing to display wholesale prices at its drug sales location.

The private pharmacy 24h (No. 140A Ngo Quyen Street, Group 14, Quang Trung Ward, Ha Dong District) was fined 5 million VND and Ruby Pharmacy (No. 7 Yen Son Area, Chuc Son Town, Chuong My District) was fined 7.5 million VND for failing to submit documents requesting periodic assessment of compliance with good retail pharmacy practices as required by law.

Four companies were fined 15 million VND each for failing to retain documents and records related to the batch of medicine within the legally required retention period. These companies are: Cali-US Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (44, Alley 252, Kham Thien Market Street, Trung Phung Ward, Dong Da District); Midu MenaQ7 Joint Stock Company (7 Sa Doi Street, Dai Mo Ward, Nam Tu Liem District); 3H Vietnam Investment and Trading Co., Ltd. (181 Xa Dan 2 Alley, Nam Dong Ward, Dong Da District); and AC Pharma Co., Ltd. (7 B5 Dam Trau Urban Area, Bach Dang Ward, Hai Ba Trung District).

Hoang Gia Diamond business (3rd and 4th floors, Lot 76-77 TTC, 319 residential area, Group 10, Hong Tien, Bo De Ward, Long Bien District) was fined 35 million VND and ordered to remove and delete advertising content for advertising medical examination and treatment services without an operating license.

The Hanoi branch of Hiep Bach Nien Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (No. 1, Lane 192, Thai Thinh Street, Lang Ha Ward, Dong Da District) was fined 45 million VND for advertising drugs without having the content approved by the competent state agency before conducting the advertisement as required by regulations; and was also ordered to remove, dismantle, and delete the inappropriate advertisement from the company's website.

Long Sen Comprehensive Health and Beauty Medical Company Limited (Team 4, Thang Dau Hamlet, Hoa Thach Commune, Quoc Oai District) was fined 106 million VND and had its professional practice certificate revoked for 2 months; and its operating license revoked for 4 months. The reasons for this were: providing medical examination and treatment services beyond the scope of expertise stated in its operating license; failing to meet one of the following conditions after being granted an operating license; and failing to report changes in practitioners to the competent state authority as required by law.

Kids Plaza Vietnam Joint Stock Company (20 Thai Thinh Street, Nga Tu So Ward, Dong Da District) was fined 12 million VND for failing to provide separate areas as required by law for storing raw materials, finished products, preliminary processing, processing, packaging, toilets, handwashing, changing rooms for protective clothing, and related auxiliary areas.

Six establishments producing purified and bottled drinking water, which had self-declared their products as having microbiological indicators that did not conform to technical standard No. 6-1: 2010/BYT dated June 2, 2010, of the Ministry of Health, have been fined 35 million VND each, suspended from operation for two months starting from July 18, 2024, and ordered to recall and change the intended use of the violating products that do not ensure food safety.

Kim Cuong Service Co., Ltd. (No. 3, Alley 1160, Lang Street, Lang Thuong Ward, Dong Da District) produces Kim Cuong Ready-to-Use Ice (Production Date: June 12, 2024; Expiry Date: 2 months from production date; Packaging: 5kg/bag) and is subject to self-declaration of microbiological indicators that do not conform to technical standard No. 10:2011/BYT dated January 13, 2011 of the Ministry of Health - National technical standard for ready-to-use ice; trading and circulating on the market the food product (Kim Cuong Ready-to-Use Ice (Production Date: June 12, 2024; Expiry Date: 2 months from production date; Packaging: 5kg/bag)) that does not conform to the declared standards, with the value of the infringing batch already sold: 1,494,000 VND.

The Inspectorate of the Department of Health has imposed administrative fines exceeding 37 million VND; suspended all production of ready-to-use ice for 2 months, starting from July 18, 2024; and ordered the destruction of one bag of ready-to-use ice from the production batch: Kim Cuong Ready-to-Use Ice (Production date: June 12, 2024; Expiry date: 2 months from production date; packaging: 5kg/bag) that did not meet food safety standards.

Binh Phuoc: Investigation and handling of suspected food poisoning case.

On July 24th, the Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) issued Official Letter No. 1759/ATTP-NĐTT to the Department of Health of Binh Phuoc province regarding the investigation and handling of a suspected food poisoning incident.

The Food Safety Department has received information about a suspected food poisoning incident at Pin Yuan Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Nam Dong Phu Industrial Park, Dong Phu District, Binh Phuoc Province), in which more than 60 people were affected and hospitalized for treatment.

The Food Safety Department requests the Binh Phuoc Provincial Department of Health to urgently direct hospitals where patients are being treated to focus resources on actively treating patients, ensuring their health and lives are not affected. If necessary, they can request professional consultation support from higher-level hospitals.

The Food Safety Department also requested that local authorities conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the suspected food poisoning incident in accordance with regulations; and temporarily suspend the operation of the unit that provided the meal suspected of causing the poisoning. If violations are found, strict action should be taken against those violating food safety regulations, and the results should be made public.

Strictly implement the contents of Official Letter No. 2487/BYT-ATTP dated May 11, 2024 and Official Letter No. 3113/BYT-ATTP dated June 7, 2024 of the Ministry of Health on preventing and handling food poisoning and strengthening the work of preventing and controlling food poisoning.
