Hanoi Power Corporation (EVNHANOI) has just announced its decision to postpone all planned power outages until June 1st.
The announcement stated that, due to the prolonged and widespread heatwave in the capital city and the increased electricity demand from customers, EVNHANOI has decided to postpone all planned power outages until June 1st to ensure a stable electricity supply for people's daily lives, business activities, and important examinations in the city.
According to Hanoi's power system, the city's peak power (Pmax) recorded at 9:30 PM on May 26th reached 6,290 MW - the highest level ever, an increase of nearly 5% compared to the peak power in 2025 (5,992 MW).

Electricity consumption on May 26th also reached 131.76 million kWh, a 7.3% increase compared to the peak of the previous year. These indicators show that electricity demand in the capital is increasing sharply due to the impact of the intense hot weather.
To ensure the safe, continuous, and stable operation of the power system, EVNHANOI is temporarily suspending all previously planned power outages until 24:00 on June 1st.
During this period, power outages will only be implemented in cases of force majeure. The objective is to address risks that directly affect the safe operation of the power system.
In addition, EVNHANOI is also strengthening the inspection and supervision of the power grid system's operation, proactively reviewing critical equipment and deploying on-call personnel to promptly handle any arising situations, especially at locations serving the 10th grade entrance exam and the 2026 high school graduation exam.
In addition to technical solutions, EVNHANOI recommends that customers use electricity safely, economically, and efficiently, especially during peak hours from 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM (Monday to Saturday).
Setting air conditioners to 26 degrees Celsius or higher, combined with the use of fans and limiting the simultaneous use of multiple high-power electrical appliances will help reduce the strain on the power system during the summer.
