(PLVN) - On the afternoon of August 7th, the Business Finance Magazine, in collaboration with relevant parties, organized the Forum on Promoting Innovation in the Economic Growth Model in Vietnam.
Attendees included Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Cuong - Member of the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Tuan - former Director of the Vietnam Institute of Economics; Dr. Vo Tri Thanh - former Deputy Director of the Central Institute for Economic Management Research; and Dr. Chu Duc Hoang - Chief of the Office of the National Technology Innovation Fund, Ministry of Science and Technology .
Within the framework of the Forum, delegates focused on topics such as: The current state of Vietnam's growth model and some future directions; Solutions for innovating the growth model in Vietnam; Innovating the financial model and strengthening the banking system to support economic growth; The dual transformation business model in Vietnam; The role of innovative startups in promoting economic growth...
The National Assembly issued Resolution No. 31/2021/QH15 on November 12, 2021, on the plan for restructuring the economy in the period 2021-2025, with the overall goal of forming a rational and efficient structure in each industry and sector; between industries and sectors; and the entire economy; bringing about substantial and clear changes in the growth model, productivity, quality, efficiency, competitiveness, and enhancing the self-reliance, adaptability, and resilience of the economy.
Despite numerous challenges, the Vietnamese economy grew at a rate of 6.42% in the first half of 2024.
Experts believe that GDP growth for the whole of 2024 could reach nearly 7% after Vietnam had its fourth consecutive quarter of exceeding growth potential... However, the growth model has not yet created fundamental changes; productivity, quality, efficiency, and competitiveness of the economy are not yet high. The macroeconomic situation still harbors some risks, the macroeconomic foundation is not truly solid, and the economy is highly open and dependent on imported raw materials.
