
The 23 projects include: Repairing the SG3 culvert, part of the flood control dike project on the left bank of the Saigon River from Binh Phuoc Bridge to Cau Ngang Canal (Thu Duc City); urgently reinforcing eroded areas along Cau Sa Canal (District 12); flood control in 4 alleys (Tan Binh District); repairing 6 drainage ditches, canals, and waterways (Cu Chi District); and repairing 11 canal and branch embankments (Thu Duc City). The total estimated support cost is 62.598 billion VND.
These projects, once completed, are expected to effectively prevent and mitigate tidal surges and flooding, and improve drainage, protecting areas totaling approximately 134.53 hectares and about 7,722 households.
Accordingly, the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to direct the unit assigned as the investor to organize surveys, prepare documents, and follow the procedures for implementing projects belonging to the irrigation infrastructure assets managed by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; approve the economic -technical report and approve the final accounts in accordance with current regulations.
At the same time, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in coordination with the Department of Finance and the City Treasury, will direct and manage the city's Disaster Prevention and Control Fund management agency. Based on the approved economic-technical report and the project implementation progress, they will carry out procedures for disbursing funds and settling accounts for projects from the city's Disaster Prevention and Control Fund to localities and units in accordance with regulations.
In addition, the City People's Committee also assigned the People's Committees of Tan Binh District, Cu Chi District, and Thu Duc City to direct their subordinate units, which have the function of being the investor, to organize surveys, prepare documents, and follow the procedures for the construction of the projects, and to seek expert opinions from the Irrigation Sub-Department (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development).
Approve the economic and technical feasibility report in accordance with current regulations and promptly proceed with construction to complete the project and put it into operation.
The relevant units are responsible for inspecting the current state of structures in their areas, ensuring safety, proactively implementing measures to address vulnerable points, and ensuring flood and tidal surge prevention and drainage according to the "four on-the-spot" principle, especially during tidal surges and floods in 2024.
